I'm growing very tired of this kind of overanalysis as well. It's first year film student stuff that's eye-rollingly pretentious. There's a current trend with indie label companies in commissioning special feature contributions from a new generation of "film historians" who over analyse every film they see and suck all the fun out of them. I am not the slightest bit interested in their personal readings of the films they write/talk about...just focus on the production history, trivia, etc and keep the academic analysis to minimum.

I got mine today only to realize I had accidentally ordered the standard version instead of the limited. I'm probably going to send it back and get the other version, or just wait for a better price for the standard release. $29 seems pretty high when the limited edition is only $5 more.

Clever ending. I love it. Up there with The Sopranos ending, for originality. Although that type of ending (upbeat music to downbeat ending), is often imitated, nowadays.

Um.. serious film analysis has been going on since the 50s, if not before.....Hitchcock, Bergman, Fellini etc. have been torn apart and looked at for sexual etc al. reasons forever... I have yet to read this booklet but personal and critical analysis of films is certainly not new.
FWIW, I often don't agree with these readings of films, but still find them interesting and will see the film in a new light afterwards....

I vote for jettisoning the pretentious academia entirely. Some of these essays read like you need a degree in Literature just to get past the analysis. I don't know why they even bother with booklets - blocks of text with very little in the way of photos or artwork to break the monotony works as a deterrent for me to even pick up the booklets, let alone read them. If they must do articles why not do a Mediabook instead? Large colorful photos and a gallery of international poster art is a much more pleasing physical extra than small booklets with even smaller walls of pretentious analysis.

for once the deleted death scene of the hobos by the Thames is described in detail by commentator Paul Davis - his whole commentary is fascinating. Arrow may have released the best special edition of the year with this release.

Also by Landis - the wolf would bite one of the men, taking the top half.

Looking at the injuries to the men in the porno theatre may give some clue as to what it did. I read on a forum once that the wolf attacked one of the men, mauling him on the hood of a wrecked car. In the film, there's a wrecked car near where the men are drinking and warming themselves.

No one's arguing it's new.

I think the point everyone's getting at is the stuffy no-fun-overly-pretentious reaching-analyses are getting annoying. Not that those are new, but this particular tryhard dare I say woke projecting is what I and others find annoying.

I ordered this from Target but I didn't do my research, and their site blows. I think I ordered the standard set, not limited. Dang it.
