First off, they're NOT making many of these shows for children, I think that's pretty obvious from the stories.

Secondly, nobody is saying "make shows for white children" or fill in your blank children/ethnicity. It makes no sense to set out to make science fiction for a certain ethnicity because if you look back through the history of Star Wars, the fanbase is made up of all ethnicities. Star Wars, Star Trek, these shows really transcended forced diversity. I'm almost 50 years old, turn 50 this year, do you know what one of my favorite shows was when I was a youth? It was The Cosby Show. That show was ultra popular across all races and that's because it was well acted, well written, and its stories were relatable to everyone.

There's no reason to set out to make "the gayest Star Wars ever". There's no reason to turn the franchise into some gynocentric series either. Just write good stories, cast great actors, regardless of race or whether or not someone is gay, and people will watch it. This isn't a difficult concept. Enough social narratives, enough pandering.

There are two things at play, each and every time statements are made it generates news. People fall for it every time. Then they take the statements seriously like a personal attack. If these statements bother you do not watch or comment on these shows. As was said before take your time and energy and support other things.

This is a universe with laser swords and ghosts and witches and lightspeed travel and cyborgs and telekinesis and cloning and aliens of every conceivable description, etc. and the one thing that people nitpick is a woman doing something of note? Or a character of color having a line? Or a non-straight person simply existing? Why no outrage when Kit Fisto got to accompany Mace to arrest Palpatine? A green octopus guy got the spotlight over a human character. These issues are only issues if you make them one. Star Wars, like any entertainment property, is there to entertain. It mentions different people and includes different people in order to appeal to them and get them to watch. That's really all it boils down to. There's no need to make small, fleeting moments of differentiation into something that is a personal attack on anyone. Star Wars can be, and is entertaining, if you let it be. It's really not that hard to tap into that childlike sense of wonder that you had when you watched the OT for the first time, when you didn't care about "x agenda" or "x minority" because it's a different galaxy than ours.

You're making the mistake of looking at things with a rational, sound mind. In order to understand Star Wars fan-think, you have to suspend all reasonable, rational thought. Then, it starts to make sense.

Just makes my comparison of The Acolyte with the ill-fated Willow series more apt, I think. Only watched the first three episodes; now no one has to start watching it in the first place, as it will not even have a conclusion to all the setup.
