I still think ACC is driven by basketball. Just look at the schools they've added... Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville. Only one of those schools is any good at football. Notre Dame is joining for everything but football (though the ACC does get 5 games with them).

They probably aren't on the ACC's radar. Cincinnati is a joke though. There's practically no fan support for that school, drawing about 28k fans per game. Even UCF outdraws them while we're in the CUSA. UConn draws only slightly more fans per game than UCF.

If the ACC takes UConn and Cincinnati it would be due to basketball, not football.

Wisconsin has hired Utah State coach Gary Andersen as their new coach. I really didn't expect a hire like that. Most of the names I had heard as possibilities had some connection with Barry Alvarez, either as a player or assistant under him. I had also heard North Dakota State coach Craig Bohl as a possibility. Bohl won the FCS national title last year and has his team playing for the title again this year. What may have been working against Bohl is the FCS title game isn't played until January 5 and it's unlikely Wisconsin would have waited until then to hire a coach. I expected them to go with someone with Midwest ties, and Andersen has spent virtually his whole career in the state of Utah.

Michigan is thinking about playing Denard Robinson at DB for the bowl game. I see him more as a slot receiver/ Kick returner at the next level. We will see only time can tell.

Apparently the Military Bowl between San Jose State and Bowling Green is going on right now. Why would they schedule a bowl game for a Thursday afternoon at 3:00 ET? It's not like this is a holiday. While more people than usual may have taken the day off most people are still working so I assume the attendance and TV ratings are going to be terrible, although I can't imagine a ton of people wanting to watch that game in the first place.

I guess if I don't want to be taken as freaking out I will have to keep my questions marks and exclamation points to myself. Either way, even if the Military Bowl had one of the armed forces in it you still wouldn't care. (Note the lack of capitalization and additional punctuation, meaning this post was made in a neutral and calm tone)

It sounds like a contract disagreement between North Carolina and Butch Davis is keeping Davis from becoming the head coach at Florida International. When Davis was fired at North Carolina he agreed to a settlement that would pay him $590,000 every January 15 from 2013-2015. However, UNC does not believe they should have to pay the money if Davis gets another coaching job. Davis better get this settled quickly because FIU needs to get a coach hired soon with signing day less than 6 weeks away.

KENS 5 News in San Antonio reports that two University of Texas football players are at the “center of a sexual assault investigation.” Per the report:

Police were called at 2:48 a.m. Friday to the Holiday Inn Riverwalk in the 200 block of North St. Mary.

A woman told police she met two UT players out partying overnight and invited them back to her room at the Holiday Inn. She later made the allegations of sexual assault to police.

The two players have been suspended and sent home. While the players haven't been named it's being reported that quarterback Case McCoy (Colt's brother) and linebacker Jordan Hicks were sent home, so the assumption is they're the players being investigated.

So UCF played in the Beef O' Brady's Bowl in St. Pete, FL and the game drew 21,700 fans. For home games we average roughly 35k per game. That's what happens when you have a bowl game at Tropicana Field - one of the worst stadiums in pro sports.

Life in the post-Vince Young era sure has been rough on Mack Brown. Every year Texas in top-5 nationally in recruiting rankings yet they're 21-16 in the past three seasons. Mack is lucky he has a national championship in the bank or he might be on the way out. If Texas doesn't show improvement in 2013 he could still be in big trouble.

+1 Colt Mccoy brought him some more time, making to the NC game. Next year is put up or shut up for Mack Brown. It's funny I was watching SMU the other night and Garrett Gilbert looked pretty good. Maybe they gave up on him to early. Having one of the top recruiting classes every year they can't find a legit QB.
