I am guessing they mean the force is reemerging from the dark period of war and terror but it doesn't actually make any sense much like the directors previous Star Trek title.

The prequel titles were bad apart from ROTS.

I always find it funny how much hate the Episode titles get. I think their all fine for what they are: serial pulp adventure film titles.

[QUOTE=Darkstream;9980993]Possible MAJORS SPOILERS regarding Luke Skywalker

I like it. It's enough of a different angle that we haven't seen in a SW film yet.

I like it(bear in mind I know nothing about the plot). It's 3 words long like the first entry in each trilogy thus far. It's cheesy but in a good way. And it finally incorporates "The Force" into a Star Wars title.

Honestly the only bad Star Wars movie titles IMO are "Attack of the Clones" and "A New Hope" and the latter almost doesn't count since that's not the original name of the film.

The title is perfectly fine, it is much better than "The Phantom Menace", "Attack of the Clones" and "A New Hope" in my opinion.

Not you, though. You're not getting suckered. You're wise to that JJ and all his lame tricks.

I always hated Attack of the Clones. It should've been The Clone Wars. The Phantom Menace was hokey too.
In fitting with my own hopes storywise, I'd like to see them use the N64 title, Shadows of the Empire.

I'm looking forward to "Episode VIII: The Force Hits Snooze" and then "Episode IX: The Force Finally Gets Its Butt In Gear".

Attack of the Clones was met with stunned disbelief...I know a guy who swore he'd never see the movie the day the title hit.

Yes that's a great title

The Force Unleashed is sweet too, they could of used that here.

Awakens just sounds so...weak wet or soft

I trust it will be called Episode VII?

The title is fine, to me. Nothing spectacular, but it's just a title. I don't think it's bad.

I'm... Indifferent to the title.
I believe we will still see "Episode VII" in the opening crawl, but for marketing purposes, they're following the original trilogy and refer to the movie now as Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Just like The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

There have been worse titles, and I think I have most people beat when it comes to hating certain names given to Star Wars sequels. Or prequels.

I hate the title given to Episode 1 to such a degree that I haven't spoke it aloud for over 16 years - the day that Lucas announced it to the world. Calling it something as naff and so directly connected to the Flash Gordon serials was almost spitting into the faces of fans. I have great affection for the Buster Crabbe chapter-plays, but this was just too on-the-nose.

The even worse title of The Creeping Fear was almost given to Episode III, so maybe it dodged a bullet after all.

What about Star Wars: Get Off My Lawn, You Youngling Hoodlums?

The Force Awakens...if you really think about it, the Force doesn't really exist after Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Leia since Yoda and Obi-Wan have passed, and Anakin has joined Yoda and Obi-Wan. One would think the Force, although not too common, is now a "force" to be reckoned with, especially with a re-discovery of the Force? Without reading into too much of the rumors, maybe this title ties into the crux of the story...
