Obi-Wan told Luke that the Force is "created by all living things", not just the Jedi or Sith. They're just the ones who were practiced in harnessing it.

I've only heard that from Harry Knowles, whom I trust as far as I could throw.

Even Geek Overlord Simon Pegg announced that very title on a UK chat show, so it was also being said within the industry, too. I've worked with Mr P a number of times (see avatar, left) and he really knows his geek stuff. It was probably an elaborate false trail by Lucas, as he said that a number of sites had inadvertently worked it out.

So many jokes can be made with this title.

I also strongly believe Phantom Menace is not a bad title. It was absolutely appropriate to the story and it had the correct tone: ominous. But The Force Awakens...bahaha! Sounds like a cheesy parody a fan made up.

Pegg reads Harry's site, they chat on Twitter every now and then.

This. The force existed prior to and after Return of the Jedi.

But as far as "The Force Awakens" goes, I don't love it but I don't mind it. And what if what we saw with the Force in any of the previous movies was simply the tip of the iceberg, and nobody else has truly harnessed it?

Also, it kind of reminds me of Yamamoto's "sleeping giant" quote. The US was very active and alive and busy prior to Pearl Harbor, but when that one event happened there was a definite "America Awakens" shift in presence.

And that Luke spoiler mentioned earlier sounds wicked cool. I would love to see that.

That, and ever since seeing Galen bring down a Star Destroyer in the video game using just the force, I feel like we've been "ripped off" with seeing what a very powerful force user could do.

Yep, that's another of the metaphorical ways the title could be interpreted. The Jedi were always about using this power only when necessary, to harness and control it properly, but without any of that guidance who's to say how far it could've been taken and what it's REALLY capable of doing? 'The Force Awakens' indeed...

That is, assuming ofcourse, that one can harness it to such a great extent without resorting to the dark side. If you resort to the dark side you aren't really harnessing it anymore, are you? At that point you are just consumed by a lust for power. So basically, the Force Harnesses You when you resort to the dark side. Am I making sense?

God, we can always count on the Star Wars nerds to bit<h about something. There's nothing at all wrong with The Force Awakens. Before anyone questions the logic behind the title, you might want to wait until you actually see the movie before you decide you know better than the ones actually making it.

It actually took a while for this post to pop up, surprising.

Mr P was introduced to Lucas by Ron howard, but I'm not sure if they have kept in touch, so who knows where he got it from.

Yeah, don't you just hate when people piss and moan over absolutely nothing?

That's the worst.

Oh, I remember. It's the worst of the titles because of how the phrase flows, but it certainly still fits in with the 30s serial style.

Can't say I'm loving the title, but it does not temper my excitement for Episode VII
