That's always what I've liked best about that title. I like when movies embrace and own their homage upfront (see: Guardians of the Galaxy and directly referring to the orb as the Ark of the Covenant in the dialogue).

I am sensing sarcasm here Sorry I don't think JJ is the greatest thing since sliced bread but it is lame tricks that seem to entertain the masses. Look at this film - rewriting the script as it doesn't feature the original cast enough and the masses clap. Says he is going to rely on practical effects more and less cgi and the masses give him a standing ovation. Says he is getting John Williams to do the score and the masses wet themselves in excitement. He just keeps dangling that carrot and people keep jumping for it. Can't wait to see the reaction when he releases the first 3 seconds of footage like he did with Into Darkness

With a title like that, there better be some cock-explosion worthy Force powers on display in this movie. Like....Starkiller level shit.

So basically he does things that people like and people like it.

What a topsy-turvy world gone mad this is.

So I suppose Ep. VIII will be: The Force hits the snooze button...?
Not a mind-blowing title, but certainly better than TPM or AOTC, I think.

Everyone hated The Phantom Menace prior to release, after release it made sense. I have a feeling after you see this movie the title will make perfect sense. Also since the title is dealing with the force it may not be that it was asleep but using "awakens" as in a term of enlightment.

Then people need to quit calling him this visionary and genius director because it doesn't take either to just give people what they want. We get that all the time and usually people complaint that it is exactly the same as what we saw before. At least Lucas was willing to take a risk in Episodes I-III and not make it exactly what people thought it should be, JJ is just making a big budget fan film and people are eating it up.

Am I the only one slightly (and I will emphasize "slightly") disappointed they dropped the Episode numbers from the title?

I am sure the numbers will be there in the crawl at the beginning.

Not my work, just found them online. Credit to the original artists.

Took a little warming up for me but now I'm fully on board with the title. Fits the new Luke rumor from earlier today so hopefully that points to some truth in it.

The title is growing on me too. And I love the Luke rumors. If they're true, imagine how powerful Anakin would have been had he not been kept in check by either the Jedi or Darth Sidious.

I get the title. It's spiritual.

Everyone has the Buddha, or whatever nature in them, but we need to learn to quiet our minds through meditation, as well as practice seeing with the undiscriminating eye, that everything is one, and therefore truly awaken to our potential. The same is true here.
The force is always there, but most are blissfully unaware of its power.....

I think she's unrecognizable. If I saw that photo outside of a Star Wars context, I wouldn't have known it was her. Hopefully her voice and attitude in the film will make her character recognizable again.

And hopefully that stupid facial expression she's been doing in every recent picture I've seen of her is nowhere in the movie.
