When I put my mind to something I intend to finish it. No matter how inconvenient it is for others.

I'm sorry Kyle's deaths weren't convenient for you!

Lol sorry I had to do it.

One of the most irritating things about the Weekly / Nightfall is the enemy spawn located where everyone hangs back when attempting to kill the witch.

We got ganged up on a few times because of that.

i know right!! i mean, if he had it in his head that he was going to go down in a blaze of glory, do it by the door.....don't do it right where the knights and witch/wizards can bombard your @$$ as you're trying to revive someone!!

After the three story missions, you get tasks from Eris that don't amount to much. You can call them missions, if you like, but they take less time than most Vanguard bounties. There are no more story missions. After you complete those, the weekly and Nightfall will be available.

Don't forget JJ, that the new raid on hard mode will become available, soon, too, with even better stuff, that you need to play the new raid on hard mode.

It really is time to start breaking away. I have four pieces of new Vanguard armor that needed helium to upgrade, and last night for a few minutes, I went to the moon with a patrol bounty and started farming for helium. After two patrols, I just stopped and asked myself "why am I doing this?" Why after the innumerable occasions and countless hours of this rote activity am I going in a circle, killing the same enemies, going in the same caves and opening the same chests over and over and over again just like I have been since mid-September? Just so I can do it again with a 31 next to my emblem when I'm trying to get a 32 there? So I went and spent almost all of the rest of my marks on helium. Now I also have these new raid gauntlets that require "radiant shards." Twenty one of them, to be exact. I have five. The only way these gloves will be of any use to me in the game is to spend more hours over many days doing tasks for this Eris, because she does not offer enough activities in a single day to rank up, and it takes multiple ranks for these items to become available. The other option is to take my chances on random drops in this new raid, which is also hours over many days, but limited to no more than three times per week, with no guarantee that I will ever get them.

Now, it's only Wednesday, and on Friday the Xur guy comes and will supposedly offer exotic trade-ups and some new stuff. And then we have to do it some more. Round and round and round on Venus? Mars? Moon? Because by then you won't be able to earn anymore marks.

I'll get bitten with the completist bug, I'll want three L32 characters, I'll want all the new items, I'll want to max them all out to 331, and by the time I have the aforementioned, House of Wolves will release. To quote Jermaine Dupri metaphorically, "And on Monday we'll be at it again!"
I'm in the same boat, Jose. It's the whole completist thing (gotta catch 'em all). My wife is even starting to get concerned that I'm playing way too much (which I am), particularly when I'm actually in town during the week. I'm probably going to have to cut-down my play time to an hour or two a night M-F, and use the weekends to get caught up.

I think I'm also going to just concentrate on my warlock(s), as they are both 30 and can share any new gear I get. That's the plan, anyway...

I’m glad I only played 1 character right off the bat w/this game. I haven’t reached that burn out level that some of you have from the sounds of it.

I think I’ve got somewhere around 4 days into the game total so far……so anytime I get something new, it’s still exciting for me.

Same here. I have nowhere near the amount of time as some have put into the game.

For the most part I am generally way behind the curve as everyone else. Still looking forward to getting better loot etc... I don't have that many exotics either (relatively speaking).

You guys are looking at this all wrong. It's about playing (usually with friends) and having fun, the leveling up and new weapons will come on their own....just play the game and enjoy the company, we will all be maxed out by the time its necessary to do the hard raid and if you miss a daily/weekly, so what, it doesn't matter. There is no need to farm anymore, you get materials frm the daily and bountys now, just be cool.

I guess what I am saying is, don't leave me here by myself.

Do the mission 'The Dark Beyond', you know, "We woken the Hive!" Let the Thrall surround you and hit with the super.

For weeks now, completionism and being prepared, whatever that entails, for The Dark Below, or whatever else motivates you, seemed to be driving the community that is Destiny. And despite knowing in general how much new material there would be, it leaves you with a "That's it?" followed by a "Now what?" You would have thought from the buzz in this community they were releasing a whole new game, but we knew they were not. We could debate the value of what we did get, but that's difficult to quantify. In real-time hours, it's probably quite good for most interested players, if that's how you would choose to valuate it.

Today, I sort of think the timing of this expansion was a little late. We were getting bored weeks ago, and it was the anticipation of this expansion that kept a lot of us going, I think. That and a game design that kept many of us around to keep helping friends become legendary, too. But now we are all bunched up, peers in the game, so to speak, and those we have been helping no longer need help, and a little more electronic junk, I think, is a lot less of a motivator than real people to keep me interested. Does this expansion, by virtue of it's timing, actually serve to drive players away from the game in the near future rather than help to retain them? It's sure not enough to keep my grinding for weeks until more material comes out, and to be honest, if I am not invested in the game at the time the next expansion shows up, I might not play it.

And hey, where's NARMAK? I thought he'd be back for this.

Jon and Rick, trust that I feel the same as you do.

As a 30, I'll only be yet so useful for so long, if I were to play casually. But I'm so damn competitive. All or nothing.

I'm gonna put it down. Invest some time in my long-neglected home theater and camera (and girlfriend. Lmao) instead. When I get home from work today I will remove the disc from the PS4. See how long that lasts.

agreed, i think it's a lot more enjoyable just having the one character and do what you can, and dont worry about hitting the max level as soon as possible.

basically if you want the game to last and not get burned out on it, then dont rush through everything so fast.
