Also the discussion was about Scott Pilgrim last time I checked. Mods have something against Scott Pilgrim confirmed.

It's called CHAT EDITION for a reason. And if it's such a problem for you why have you participated in it yourself? Other Mods have too. It's been like the way it is for a long time and since this weekend it's suddenly an issue? For who? It's in the General part of the board. There's a movie version in the movies section. Everything was cool. Why not just rename if CHAT THREAD and move on? Jesus.

Too simple and too obvious a solution. We have to make it difficult because pointless drama is fun.

Is it just me or is Hollywood a mess right now?

I dunno, it just seems like they have no clue what they're doing at the moment. Grasping at straws. All the constant remakes, sequels and reboots, sometimes of bizzarre things and in bizzare ways, anything to try and catch some kind of zeitgeist. Suicide squad heavily re-edited to be PG-13, allegedly screwing it up, similar kind of re-editing with BvS and the general terribleness of the DC cinematic universe (reported, I haven't watched it), taking a fantastic film and shoehorning in a link to Cloverfield for no reason besides Cloverfield being a hits, the alleged careful deleting of comments to market Ghostbusters on spiting people who spited the movie for it's female cast, Disney redoing their entire catalogue with confused remakes that aren't sure if they want to be their own thing or a pastiche of the Disney original, creating more controversy by casting white people in Asian roles...

This isn't necessarily to discuss the validity of the controversial stuff, there are threads for that, it's more to show the vibe I'm getting, that Hollywood seems to be panicking and just throwing everything (with a familiar brand name) to the wall to see if it sticks. I know they've done a lot of this sort of thing in the past but it seems like it's all hitting at once. Does anyone else get that feeling?

I saw someone mention, last year or maybe even the year before, a certain house insurance coverage that replaces an item, and not just a generic version of the item, but the cost to replace the actual item.

I have the Harry Potter Wizard's Collection and if something happens to the house, I want to make sure that set is completely replaced and that they don't give me the money to just cover the normal 8-film set!

This is just one of many collector's sets I own, not to mention my extensive video game, figurine and other items collections

just make sure that your insurance coverage states "replacement value" and not "fair market value" or "depreciated value" or "purchase price."

If you have collectables that are worth more than you purchased them for, or are particularly valuable (to you, not even necessarily in the eyes of the insurance company) you can itemize them ahead of time and ask your insurer to cover them explicitly, it might just raise your premium a few dollars.

I had a custom built mountain bike years ago that I covered this way, it got stolen, and USAA asked me to build a shopping cart on a cycling shop website with the parts, they then paid me the total of the shopping cart, to the cent including taxes and shipping.

Thank you so much for the quick response!

What the hell do I want to eat? More than likely going to have to resort to fast food. Just something quick and so-bad-for-you-it-fills-you-up-for-the-rest-of-the-day.

Thinking about what I'm going to do the rest of the day, considering a quick trip to the gym just to walk on the treadmill for an hour since I'm off work for the day.

Thinking about how tonight's lower body session will kick off week 10 of my trips to the gym, still hoping to see visible gains other than on weight plates soon.

I don't read a lot, but when I do it's exactly the same feeling I get when binge drinking: pick up a book and literally can't stop reading, regardless of subject matter, then take a smoke break. Repeat. When binge drinking I start with 200ml or whiskey, then move to 6pk beer and back to another 200ml. Problem is, I only retain the points of view I agree with, which is 'bad' considering how harsh I am to those online who live in an echo chamber, as far as politics. I need a little psilocybin to sort this, yeah?

I just glanced at the date and a flashback that makes me feel really old.

In 1976, I was a teenager learning to fly. I didn't have a driver's license but I figured I could fly an airplane. 40 years ago almost to the hour, I was having a lesson with my instructor when he directed me to land the plane. We taxiied back to the hangar and he said, "Leave the engine running". He got out of the plane and fastened the seatbelt across his empty seat. He took the microphone and called the tower, "C-FCBJ, first solo". He said to me "One circuit" then closed the door.

So 40 years ago today, I flew Cessna 150 Aerobat C-FCBJ all by myself.

My flying career was short. It's not a hobby for a guy who was making minimum wage . But at least I can say I did it.

New eBay seller is listing expedited shipping for every single one of his items even though the shipping price clearly doesn't cover expedited and he has no intention of shipping as expedited. Do I dock him on this fact or just leave it alone and be happy I got my item at all?

He could be, just taking the hit in the listing price. Usually I just mind my own business in this situation.

Worse is the opposite, when they charge too much and mail it economy, like $6 for a CD they're sending snail mail or something. Rolling my eyes at two dirtbag sellers right now- one a$$hat had the item at a high price but puts it up auction style instead of "buy it now," I am the only one to bid, then he takes his sweet time sending it. The damn item is taking a full extra week since he ended the auction juuust late enough in the week where it gets bumped. Why do people do that? Don't end an auction late Wednesday night and be bewildered why someone doesn't like you waiting until after the weekend to ship it.

The other has a movie w/slip I want to keep nice, and when I asked if he'd ship it protected, he wants to charge me an extra $3 for bubble wrap. There goes my bid I guess! Why do these losers not get, protecting it gives me incentive to bid higher- he's the one who should eat the cost of bubble wrap (lol), it should not fall on me to overpay for something that's common sense to keep the customer happy.

Well when you leave him feedback, under "How quickly did the seller ship the item?" just give him 2-3 stars depending on how quickly you got it.
