Does anyone care to speculate if this new "no earlybird sales etc." policy would affect what Amazon.uk will continue to offer in terms of pre-order price-dips and other sales on Arrow blu-rays?
My current Amazon pre-orders for Rabid Dogs is less than Arrow, but other products like the Stray Cat box (no pun intended) & Shivers are currently less on Arrow, but I'm speculating if I cancel my order and get em thru Arrow, Amazon could suddenly have one of their pre-order price dips.
Also, since the T-shirt offer, does Arrow still offer free shipping on orders over 50? I'd rather have free shipping, though a shirt is nice.

A bit silly of them I think.

I pre-ordered Theatre of Blood steelbook, Pit and the Pendulum steelbook and the Dr Phibes set precisely because of the early bird prices. You have to pay up front of course but I didnt mind that because of the very good prices.

Ill just wait next time if theres no incentive!

According to a post on their facebook, it looks like Milan Caliber 9 is going to be delayed indefinitely. What went wrong? Master was not up to snuff?

I've got the US Fernando Di Leo set featuring this and it's pretty decent, must be something else!

I find it a bit depressing that something as purulent (and pretty awful, as a film) as Nekromantik gets such a massive response from punters when it's announced and other, far superior, stuff barely gets sniffed at. Buttgereit really is bottom of the barrel stuff.

Oh well, I hope it sells a tonne for Arrow so they can use the money for bigger and better things.

15.99 GBP is to much for preorders... im happy about the awesome priced meiko kaji set but i will wait with other releases. next sale is gonna happen at some point and i see some of these movies going down to something like 7,99-10.99 soon enough.

i watched Big Trouble in Little china yesterday. movie was a lot of fun !
but i would never pay 15,99 for such a title...

i think arrow should rethink their pricing for preorder movies.

That's just your opinion though. I happen to really admire Buttgereit as a film maker and rate Nekromantik very highly.

What do you admire, exactly? I'm not chucking this out off the cuff, I've sat through CFA, Nekro 2 and Schramm. Buttgereit is completely one-note. I suppose, at least, he's consistent.

Why does BizarreEye have to justify his admiration of Buttgereit to you?? I'm also looking forward to the release of Nekromantik as are many others. No need for any kind of justification to you or anyone else.

Well, when when someone uses a word as strong as "admire" I was curious what there can possibly be to admire in the oeuvre of a puerile twonk such as Buttgereit. It's like saying you admire Scrapbook or Murder Set Pieces.

I'm sure it's all terribly transgressive. Whatever, it'll make a tonne of money for Arrow.

Buttgereit is one of those love fruits from mine childhood. This is first of many suggestions that i sent to Arrow that come true but i would like buttgereit box more! This is also perfect.
Also i was woundering why Arrow lately avoid Gore, Splatter titles but this announcement proves me wrong

Arrow is so generous with Golden ticket and it will i guess help them to sell those expensive steelbooks. They are soooo lovely looking. Will try to get them.
I don't believe that some will throw ticket in trash would like to see picture of lucky winner with all those material!

For me Q4 in 2013 was best ever Arrow announcement. So i see that this time Q4 may look that nice.

They're charging list price for most of them! Hopefully everything gets straightened out before the fall, with Amazon prices dropping and/or Arrow offering a flash sale.

It's hard to fully describe in words really, but the admiration is more to do with what he has achieved cinematically with so little... his films also helped kickstart the 'extreme horror' sub-genre, which although is a bit of a minefield when it comes to quality has promoted an almost rebellious 'uncompromising' attitude amongst film-makers; which Buttgereit and others like him helped propagate. I'm not a huge fan of low budget independent horror cinema myself, however Buttgereit's work certainly stands out for me (as does Karim Hussain's) - certainly in comparison to 'films' such as Murder-Set-Pieces; but again, that film and others like it will surely have their fans too. I mainly like Buttgereit's films as they deal with interesting themes, but at the same time are uncompromising and thought provoking; I disagree that he his one-note as although he deals with recurring themes each film feels personal rather than a retread of the same old ground. I feel that Nekromantik and Der Todesking are his standout films.

Irrelevant of whether his films can be considered 'good', it is also apparent (at least to me) that Buttgereit has obvious passion and skill behind the camera and each film is a personal work of art... like all art though it will be extremely subjective and it comes down to personal taste. However, objectively speaking his work has definitely stood the test of time to some degree, what with a major UK DVD and Blu-ray label (and soon to be a US one too) releasing a film that is essentially an experimental independent work made by a director almost 30 years ago on a shoestring budget.

However, he is certainly not a director for everyone and completely understand that there are many people who don't and won't enjoy his work. Personally I'm really looking forward to this release and I think it is a great day for low budget independent horror cinema.

never agreed with a facebook comment as much as this one.
I had forgotten it was due out in two weeks time.
