Hi Shaggy

You'll love the Great Wall. We watched it last night and couldn't stop being enthralled till the closing credits! Didn't get steelbook.

Really good 3D and some really impressive action scenes. Unfortunately, Emilia Clarke is a total let down as Sarah Connor, it's a slap in the face to Linda Hamilton. She was never believable at all, unless she were to have played Sarah as a teenager, I kept seeing Gizmo from Gremlin.

Just pre-ordered beauty and the beast steelbook all region 3D. It's from India. Another blocked out for North Americans.

At least we got alternative sources at times.

First time for both! And yes, the conversion was very good. Also, Judy Garland's voice was much better than I remembered. I probably haven't watched this film in nearly 50 years. It seems more like a stage play than it did back then.

Watched Doctor Strange. This is just one of the best 3D experiences we have had at home. Its going to be rewatched quite a few times in the future.

Even in 2D (which I saw three years ago) I liked it better than the new Logan movie, and in 3D it is much better.
I'm a Japan-o-phile and have been since I was 10 so THE reason I love this movie this much is because of the gorgeous Japanese environments in 3D. Just gorgeous. I custom built shoji for my bedroom and it is very zen. If I could have the entire house like that I would!

I also received the 3-D Catalogue by Kraftwerk (3D blu-ray abridged edition) from Amazon.com. The track list really is limited. I hope I don't regret not buying the complete box set, but it's a bit much at $165. The abridged edition was $22 and change. Prices have since gone up on Amazon.com for these 3D blu-rays.

I am off to spend part of the holiday weekend at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania. I won't have a chance to check out these new 3D blu-rays until Monday.

Let me know about Kraftwerk. I had a policy of not buying 3D concert films until I bought Katy Perry 3D for $5 and really liked it. It gave me a lot more respect for her.

I just watched the entire Toy Story 3D trilogy back-to-back. Apart from noticing just how much CGI has developed in 15 years (from #1 to #3), the 3D presentation just added more, erm, space to the imagery. It was amazing to see Andy's bedroom come alive with that extra dimension, almost as though viewing each film for the first time. Sunnyside Daycare in the third film was a riot of colour and expansive scenery. Everything just appeared to be more 'alive'. Definite improvement from flat to 3D in all three films.

(And that ending in the third film is even more magical in 3D). Still a tear-jerker.

Roll on 2019 for Toy Story 4!

Last week I watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy mainly on my TV's "simulator mode" to some strong to somewhat extreme 3D. It was far from perfect but it was miles better than 2D. I loved watching it and seeing where and what it would have to offer in the way of pop outs. Maybe some day they will go ahead and give it a proper 3D conversion like it has been mentioned before.

After that it just felt right to jump into the Hobbit trilogy. Recently finished AUJ. Some marvelously strong 3D with loads of pop outs. Next up...DoS.
