Jurgen Klopp is leaving his post as manager of Liverpool FC at the end of the season.

https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2024...end-of-season/

He said he wants to lead a normal life after leaving the club and leaving the world of football altogether.

Costly off-sides against the British today!

Big game coming later today in the premier league between Chelsea and Manchester City. Both teams would love to start their campaign with the win but it would be interesting to see if they both go for a win or focus more on not losing it.

Great start of the season for Liverpool. I think they are going to win the league this season.

I had high hopes for Arsenal but without a proper striker it's bit hard to win the league on some tough games...

Even though I don't watch West Brom on television (it's been a much longer time since I last went to see the team play (my dad used to take me to the odd game), I still keep up to speed with the news and how they're currently doing in the Championship (Tony Mowbray is back as manager/coach).

I don't watch any of the men's football on television now (and that includes the highlights shows). I do however, watch each edition of The Women's Football Show (the Women's Super League returned from a winter break at the middle of this month). I don't support a team in the league but I do like watching Arsenal. It looks however, that despite having a new manager/coach this season, Chelsea are going to win yet another season in a row.

The Arsenal vs. West Ham match on The Women's Football Show this past Sunday night was the highlight. Very entertaining game, and one of Arsenal's goals.. (how the player got that ball in the net from a very sharp angle from one side of the box, I don't know).

After last weekend's games, the Women's Super League went on an international break. The next games will be on Easter weekend in two weeks time (with the next edition of The Women's Football Show likely airing on Sunday 20th April).

West Brom are on a bit of a slump at the moment (dropped down to 8th in the Championship after yesterday's 2-0 loss to Coventry in a Midlands derby. Next game is on Easter Monday against Derby County).

A shorter Women's Football Show on tomorrow night.

Two more editions left of The Women's Football Show this season. There were only four games on this past Sunday night's edition (Crystal Palace have been relegated to the Women's Championship, with it being decided next Sunday who wins the Championship and gets promoted to the Women's Super League (either London City Lionesses or Birmingham City).

I had wondered what had happened to the Manchester City manager/head coach as they hadn't been doing post-match interviews for the last few WSL games, as the interim head coach was speaking instead. Haven't checked since this past weekend, but West Brom are looking for a new manager/head coach (we've dropped down to 10th in the Championship).

Glad to see West Brom win 5-3 today against Luton Town (moved up to 9th in the table).

And sadly, Arsenal won't be able to win the Women's Super League this season as Chelsea won the game they played a few nights ago. But they recently beat Lyon in the semi-finals of the Champions League (they face Barcelona in the final three weeks today), so they can still get something out of this season alongside finishing high in the WSL.

The Women's Super League's latest season ends next Saturday (10th May), with The Women's Football Show's last highlights programme of the season airing on BBC One on Saturday night (instead of usually on Sunday night).

The London City Lionesses won the game against Birmingham City in the Championship this past weekend, so they've been promoted to the Women's Super League for next season.

It felt peculiar The Women's Football Show being on this past Saturday night, instead of in it's normal Sunday night timeslot. Even though there wasn't really a lot to play for (the winners of the Women's Super League had already been decided, as well as which team has been relegated to the Championship), it was still entertaining.

They said at the end of the last highlights show of the season that The Women's Super League will be back in September.

Regardless of which team you may support in the Women's Super League, it was great to read later on on Saturday night that Arsenal beat Barcelona to win the Champions League final. I'm glad to see that things in the end this season were not all one-sided where it wasn't just the Chelsea womens team that won some silverware. Also glad that the female coach (previously an interim coach) has helped to turn round Arsenal's fortunes after the previous season.

United Kingdom Soccer Aid (annual football/soccer game for charity)

Wasn't sure whether to start a new Sports thread for this, or to post about it in here.

I think this year's Soccer Aid charity football/soccer game will be taking place a week on Sunday, because some UK TV gameshows are doing celebrity specials in the run-up to the live Soccer Aid game (it's happened before with The Chase for example).

A mixture of celebrities and professional footballers take part in the game, playing for charity.

When I found out who West Brom's new men's first team head coach was recently, I have to admit I had never heard of them (Ryan Mason).

The womens' Euro football championship tournament starts next week. Good luck to the England team.

What a horrific tragedy for Diogo Jota & his brother; Andre Silva.

May they both Rest in Peace.
