Ah, but to our 2 digital and physical champions it does. To the point of coming off ridiculously snobbish. And before you cry FOUL, that's both alchav21 and you Steedeel.

It gets confusing, that is why a whole spreadsheet was created on what codes will give 4K and where to redeem to get 4K:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...mh4/edit#gid=0

It really just depends.

My favorite movies? I try to have on both Disc and Digital. (though one of my favorite movies, Halloween (1978), is still not available on Vudu yet. Hopefully, they add it soon)

I also have a few movies on Blu-Ray that aren't exactly my favorite, but I bought because I got them really cheap. (like $1 or $2)

For most everything else, I am okay with Digital. I share my digital collection with a family member too. (I added some movies to my digital collection just because I thought that family member might like them.)

There are also movies that I bought for cheap on Vudu (or ended up with a free code for) and I enjoyed the movie so I much, I went out and bought the disc. Or I am planning to buy the disc. (Like the movie "It" (2017) is one example where I only own the digital on Vudu. But I want to buy the disc, just because I liked the movie so much)

Anyway, so it just depends for me.

I was never much into packaging or steelbooks. (though I do have a few steebooks) But I know that is a big factor for some collectors.

BUT I did try to get some digibooks of movies I really love. Like Halloween (1978), The Matrix, The Big Lebowski and a few others.
It is just silly that you need a spreadsheet to determine where, and even if, your included code will redeem in 4K. The old mantra of "keep it simple, stupid" is a long lost concept.

I am also glad that you still buy discs when your criteria is met. Any support for physical media is infinitely better than none.

I bought It 2017 on 4K UHD and it is another title I still need to watch. It took forever for that that title to drop from its original $30 price. I generally set $25 as the maximum price I will pay for a 4K UHD title. I have to really love the movie to spend $30+.

Adding It 2017 to my back to back viewing of the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies should make for a curious triple feature.

Totally Groot and Dustin44. I just picked up the Target exclusive Black Panther digipack yesterday. I'm considering going back and trying to pick up the GotG V2 exclusive on eBay. So that it matches Thor Ragnarok and BP. Before this I only made sure my DC movies were digibooks. I'll redeem the codes before we hit the road just in case we don't take our discs with us. Our temporary place has wifi, but I am going to bring a portable BD player too.

I have to wait and import the Black Panther 3D edition. It comes out June 5th in the U.K. last I checked. 3D fans have to jump through more hoops, but at least there are still hoops to jump through.

I found the 3D underwhelming in BP. It has some decent depth, but it didn't have anything feel totally immersive with it outside the panning shots of Wakanda.

That's disappointing. Would you say it is not worth buying then and instead go with the 4K UHD? It is a Disney release, so I already have read that the audio is anemic on all editions.

No, bullshit comes out of your mouth on a daily basis and your predictions are usually something that is already in effect or outlandish. Which is why you get called on it, same as alchav, but at least they don't play the victim. You talk about how others take jabs at you and don't realize the hypocrisy in that statement. Because you are constantly making passive aggressive jabs at others expenses. Yet act surprised when your served the same shit

I'd honestly buy the 4K version to cover your bases. Walmart has it for $24.99. So you can take it to Target or Best Buy and get a price match unless you collect the BB steelbooks. I'd have probably done that yesterday if not for my son, who likes the digipacks. Sidenote, Groot, was GotG V2 the first Marvel in the digipack in the Phase 3 stuff? I picked up Doctor Strange in the steelbook that looks like the book of Vishanti for my boy.

If it was me, I'd go with the 4K UHD. I'm sure it'll look gorgeous on a proper 4K setup. I didn't have a choice at the theater and ended up watching the 3D version and I can't say anything was worth to make it as the version to own. Watching it once is fine, but it's not a must-see 3D film. Just your typical, average post-conversion.

I believe so, yep. I wish they hadn't been so sporadic with their releases and changing it up to add digibooks now. My collections don't match outside of my "Phase" sets of the briefcase and infinity stone orb collection.

Thanks for the advice, Groot and The Donster; I will probably just buy the regular 4K edition. A $10 premium for the steelbook with cover art that I find to be is excessive.

I hear you. It will be interesting on how we display things once we get settled. My MiL is giving our son one of her extra tv's for his room. Of course it isn't a brand he hasn't heard of, but we're trying to nip that in the bud and tell him to just say thank you when she does. Especially considering our first hand me down POS we had as teenagers

Yeah, prices on these seem a bit excessive. I've got Logan (4K), Doctor Strange and The Martian, but have resisted going beyond digibooks/digipacks rabbit hole. I still need to pick up a 4K player once we get settled. I'm sure by the time I do some new tech will come out that will blow the last generation out of the sky by a millisecond. I think that's why I don't feel the need to be constantly rebuying movies over and over again. Which is where digital comes to play on my viewing habits. Be it streaming or redeeming digital copies on movies I occasionally watch or haven't been released on BD.

I still, lol, have physical calendars despite having one on every device I have. I do 90% of my work notes on paper too. I find it easier. Despite my love for a tree, I sure do enjoy destroying them for the sake of work.

My physical calendar was a gift; it has a Chinese New Year theme to it. No western holidays are marked on it.

Between my desktop pc, my phone, and my tablet I have no need for a paper calendar, but they still can be fun.

I also keep a small notepad next to my pc and I still use it for most things I need to remember.

At least I recycle most of the paper products I use, so that helps a little.

I upgraded to 4K UHD and I am mostly pleased that I did. Most of the movies I have watched so far have shown improvements ranging from subtle to impressive. More have been impressive than subtle with only one, Baby Driver 4K UHD, looking essentially the same as the blu-ray, but that's just my opinion.

I did not see the upgrade to 4K UHD as a need, but rather as a want. If I had stopped at blu-ray as my last format, I am confident that I would have remained happy.

I am only upgrading from blu to 4K here and there. I am not going to make a large effort to upgrade my blus. I still have a whole lot of DVDs that have not even been upgraded. New titles are primarily what I will be buying on the 4K format.

However, as someone who has been collecting movies since VHS and has tried every format that came after it, I find that I looked forward to the next best thing, even if it does become a matter of diminishing returns. I have already bought some movies four times, some even more than that, as the formats have evolved; what's one more time if it is a movie I really love?

The leap in quality from DVD to blu-ray was dramatic, even to the most casual viewer. I doubt I will ever see such an obvious improvement between formats again.

Yet, I find 4K UHD can be stunning in some instances. The BBC's Planet Earth II, Blade Runner, The Revenant, The Dark Tower, Blade Runner 2049, and others really look fantastic. I have no regrets taking the plunge into this latest format. I will likely get my feet wet with the next one; time and progress march ever onward.
