Now that I don’t know. I was just mentioning the framerate for those who wanted to sync the LD mono, because it did need to be changed a hair to 100.1% speed to accommodate the slight difference in frame rate.

With how much time people spending pausing the movie, going frame-by-frame, making comparison pictures/videos, recording the audio, etc. they could just be watching other movies. I wouldn't doubt it that some people take five or six hours to "watch" an hour and a half movie because they notice something "wrong" and pause to investigate. Then ten minutes later do the same thing again. Start the movie at 7pm and finish it at 11:45pm.

It just seems like a lot of work for an activity that is supposed to be relaxing.

I don't think it works that way. As I mentioned previously, older media players from a few years ago went through a time where 24.000 files would stutter because the chips were timed for 23.976, because the chipmaker assumed 23.976 was the standard blu-ray frame rate. Thankfully they figured all that out and corrected that issue finally. If your TV offers true 24Hz support, it should display both 23.976 and 24.000 without any issues, if your player is outputting it properly. The problem with the media players was they weren't outputting properly - they were outputting 23.976 when playing 24.000 files, which resulted in a dropped frame very 42 seconds. Blu-ray players didn't have that issue, only media players.

When setting your TV to 24Hz mode, and your player set to output 24Hz, your TV doesn't do any converting. It displays the actual framerate it's receiving (23.976/24.000). That's the point of 24Hz support on your TV. If you don't have 24Hz support, then everything is converted to 59.94.

If any of this is incorrect, somebody can correct me.

Compression issues and aspect ratio/geometry issues do not require pausing the video to observe. For some people, they won't notice. For others, it's distracting when they try to watch the film. That's the point. I don't pause the film and frame-advance when I sit down to watch a movie. But if it's distracting, then it's distracting.

And this is a premium format. This movie has been released countless times on home video and always has had issues. It's not surprising that technical-minded people want to see it done right on UHD. UHD is supposed to represent the pinnacle of current home video technology. I don't see why some need to make a mockery of those who want to see the studios do their best.

My pre-order from them says the 11th for 2, 3, & 5, the 12th for part 4, and no date available for part II. Makes me wonder what's the point in pre-ordering.

Sweet bejesus, that's some terrible HDR10 compression. I'm truly envious of people who wouldn't be able to see that in motion. Hopefully DV saves it some.

Yeah, it definitely does. I really don’t have issues with it in motion and in DV. But maybe that’s me / my setup / viewing distance, etc.

Not making a mockery. Just simply questioning if enjoyment is even possible when it seems like so much of the time is spent purposely looking for these "mistakes." Because once you see it once, you'll see it on every subsequent viewing. That's why people hate the "goofs" section on IMDb. Once you see that cigarette smoke in the frame on the hedge scene, you'll always notice it, and it'll always pull you out of the film cause you'll subconsciously think "cigarette smoke."

Obviously two different things, spotting a filmmaking mistake and a compression issue, but still the same idea.

Earlier today, the only two that showed delivery for tomorrow were 1 and 4. The rest were scattered as late as the 12th.

Then a few minutes ago, I got that email saying those 4 were shipped.

Hopefully you guys will be surprised and get them shipped before the dates as well.

Received 1 and 2 from the Moose today. Tomorrow my III will be delivered from Best Buy. I played a bit of Halloween just to compare the mono vs Atmos. I thought the mono sounded very good. I haven't listened to the original mono since probably the holographic cover Anchor Bay DVD or the Criterion laserdisc. Looks like I'll stick to the mono for now.

Also had no problem with the disc loading in my Oppo 203.

Can someone point out some examples of the supposedly horrifying compression artifacts in those screenshots so I don’t feel like I’m losing my mind? Maybe its different in motion, but I don’t see anything as bad as a StudioCanal disc like Total Recall or Prince of Darkness there.
