Midnight Cowboy is in the National Film Registry list. But choosing an "important" film from that list would highlight how few important films Criterion offers.

Nashville is on that list. Are there any others? Laserdisc and out-of-print titles don't count, because they're really inaccessible to those without the equipment to play them or the means to purchase them, not to mention that they're no longer sold by Criterion.

What an idiotic statement. Nothing new considering it's coming from you

Idiocy may come from selecting films from a list.

Funny, I last saw Vampyr on laserdisc, and remembered it as a silent film. That's memory.

It was originally planned as a silent film but was converted to sound after it was shot.
Can't remember but I think they also might have re shot a few scenes because of it.

In store? Yes
Online? Possibly not. I tried to use my 20% coupon online, but it wouldn't go through.

Really?

You gave a link to a wiki article that has a list. The very 1st title is 12 Angry Men, the 3rd title is 3:10 to Yuma.

You need to up your game a little.

Something like that. You should give it a try nonetheless. Maybe give them a call too, I don't know.

Actually, I think this is more accurate:

In store? Maybe.
Online? No.

Yeah, they can control the use of vouchers better online, so a complete block on sale items. Instore it seems to vary on the the cashier. From reading posts on here, a lot of them seem to put them through no problem, if there is a block they manually override it.

Don't even bother trying to get those coupon codes to work for Criterions online.

What's everyone think of The Four Feathers? It's a lightning deal in about 8 minutes, probably for $17.99.

They actually allow the coupons with most sale items online, just not Criterions. I've used coupons recently online to purchase Russian Ark and Nosferatu without issue.

It was actually planned as a sound film, while Dreyer chose to shoot it silent and post sync to avoid having to shoot in a studio.

I loved it. Great early epic film that is quite true to the source material. I remember some people on this forum griping about the outdated views on colonilism expressed in the film. I don't think that should be an issue given the time period it was made in...
