I've pre-ordered it, hope some other CC titles are going to get the lower prices

For August, maybe?

Guesses for August:

M. Hulots Holiday
Thin Red Line
Seven Samurai
Y Tu Mama Tambien
If true, that would make it a very expensive month for me.

I completely forgot Y Tu Mama Tambien was supposed to come out. Would definitely buy that.

I am ecstatic about the Brakhage package (hey that rhymes). I hope this leads to many more digipak releases for future blu-ray releases. I know a lot of people here prefer the clear cases, but I'm bored of them. I love how the DVD releases were often very different. From digipaks (Bicycle Thieves, Seven Samurai and upcoming Brakhage blu) to clear hard plastic slipcovers (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Rules of the Game) to their many beautiful box sets (Cassavetes: Five Films in particular), clear plastic and black plastic cases. Unfortunately their slipcover/digipak packaging for their original blu-ray releases bombed and they started to get gun shy about paper packaging. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Which box set do you most want Criterion to re-release on blu?

If you guys had to buy one criterion movie what would it be? I'd prefer something more recent as opposed to older. I was thinking maybe gommorah or hunger

I don't mind the Brakhage packaging. It's similar to the Salo and Gazwrx from BFI.

But I really hope it doesn't happen that much. I really love the simple clear plastic cases.

I love the packaging when it is sturdy like the FURIES, and Salo, Battle of Algiers.

The case is almost identical to the one used for Che.

I like the fact that they are "experimenting" with the packaging of an experimental release.

A little pricey via amazon/uk, but you can at least save paying postage via this link. (Currently that's about $24.33.)

Hello

When I decided that getting a region Bplayer isn't so rational, I gave up and decided to rent the region 1 DVD of "Salo" from Netflix. I hope not to offend anyone that liked it (Skip this if you want), but I had one of those feelings of "I told you so, but that doesn't seem to be enough?". I gave up around halfway through (guess which part), and much of it I though was purely sensationalism, an endurence test, indulging in depravity, I would call it a stretch being close to "pornographic", and I thought it was not well written at all, it goes on and on, like rambling. I thought I got the point of the whole thing after about when they begin torturing them. It was promoting the evil it was opposing, I found it disgusting. Glad I gave it a taste test before I thought about it.

Thanks for clarifying the case thickness etc. Pro B do you feel that on par with say a standard DVD DIGIPACK release like Salo or Breathless, or Battle of Algiers that the case is just as nice just short for BD style? If so this is what I had expected CRITERION to do for such releases.

In fact I will be curious to see what they do for VIDEODROME if in fact it does get released. I thought the style was very tongue in cheek esp maing the inner DVD case look like a tape. :-) There are some cases like that, no matter if they release them on BLU i have to hold onto the DVDs for that reason. :-)
