But seriously. Lose the red glow and the dark red title. It's honestly quite bad. I'm willing to bet anybody would take a clean white title over that any day.
Again, sorry for being a dick. I don't mean it. I just mean to stress how bad something looks and hopefully steer you in a better direction.
I agree with what Rusty is saying, not with the way he says it sometimes, but he is very right this time. But the OP is free to do what he pleases, he/she should never take anything said on the internet personally

Do you even read what you type before you post it? Please don't ever comment on any work I post on here. EVER.

+1. I much prefer the originals.

What is your problem? This has nothing to do with you, he's just stating his opinion on covers you didn't make.

Jeez!!!!!!
I didn't realise a few custom Scream covers would divide opinion so much.

Anyway, first of all - i haven't taken anything personally at all. As i've said these covers are IMO brilliant and trust me, they look amazing printed and cased-up.

However, lets move on, as i always consider this forum to be above petty arguments

I love the film. Saw it in the cinema back in '93 when I was in the army. The film wasn't too big a hit in the barracks, but I was floored.

I found a tourist photo from the beach that was featured in the film, erased the photographer's wife, tweaked the colours to match the photography in the film and added some ethereal figures to the beach. The figures had to be rotoscoped from their backgrounds before being added, something I try to avoid because it's such a pain to get the edges right. Couldn't be helped this time.

The photo wasn't quite sharp enough to support the blow-up, so I had to run a few filters on it and add some noise. Tip: Using the Add Noise filter (sparingly) will give images a perceived sharpness, even though the detail isn't there. I use it from time to time when I only have small or blurry images to choose from.

I wound up with a really clean back this time. I had all the Dolby and DTS logos and stuff on there originally, but found it distracting from the serene beauty of the beach. I also scanned parts of the piano score (my wife plays) for the film to add as a background texture, but that also had to go. It just got in the way.

I have several other ideas for a Piano cover, so I may make another, not quite so serene, soon.
This is amazing. I've never seen, or even heard of this film, but being only $12.99 on Amazon, I might just blind buy it to use this cover.

Too bad the US release doesn't have those features and has 1080p instead of 1080i. Oh well, I can live with that.

Here's a version I did for The Ten Commandments, made for a three-disc, 14mm spine case.

It was a commission, but my client generously wanted to share this with anyone who wants it.

Just PM me as usual and I'll set you up.

Now you speak for EVERYONE? I had no idea. But it's time to come down off the pedestal.

I'm not saying Rusty is right 100% of the time. And he certainly lacks any kind of people skills, but he is a talented artist and I'd take what he says seriously.
I do ask for comments. Just because I don't take every suggestion doesn't mean I don't appretiate the feedback. Sometimes comments are made on things that aren't yet of concern. Other times suggestions spark new ideas. You can't please everyone all the time and many times there's 15 different suggestions as to how everyone thinks you should do something. But CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and feedback is always welcomed.

None of that gives anyone the right to post a holier-than-though opinion, speak on behalf of everyone and act like a complete tool, make note that you are a complete tool, tell everyone to ignore you but then ensure to let them know you are right and any other opinion is completely and utterly wrong. There is zero reason to take comments made in such a manner seriously, regardless of your opinion of talent.

If you feel slighted that I explained the colours, completely unaltered from the original art, on my BTTF cover then you need to take a break from message boards as well. Especially taking that supposed slight from one board to another.

OK, everyone calm down

Here is a WIP I am working on. One issue I have with Blu-ray case sizes is that it sometimes forces us to put TT over artwork. I could box the artwork on the cover and put the TT above it but I'm not sure I like that look either. anyhow...

I like the title on the front. The one thing I'd change so far is the background color. I'd like to see the clouds from the front continue to the top and then the sides and the back. It should help with the gradient of the title on the side as well.

I love the front artwork. Guy doesn't look a lot like Michael York, though.

TO be honest, I use a cardstock made for color laser copiers.

I found that dependent upon the printing method, glossy paper is not best for me. Blacks don't come out quite right over time. But that is just me.

We are above this. I congratulate any and all that have the talent and guts to try. And I thank you all for your efforts.

Remember these are customs and will not appeal to all nor should they.

Darren. Your quantity of output is amazing. You really have caught the bug.

I'm always amazed at your choice of films. Ha ha. Some of these I've never even heard of! Let alone anyone caring enough about them to make a cover.

For Zeppelin, I think a white background would have worked quite well with the poster. The blue makes it look like dark skies.

The almost square format of Blu-Ray IS a challenge when fitting posters. It's where we separate the heroes from the men.

Here is my Texas Chainsaw Massacre cover so far, would really like to make it a "slipcover".

I'm really not good at making text for my covers though...it never looks professional.

They're good, not sure I'd use them, but I love how they're very retro. Look just like 80s video covers - and I mean that in a positive way.

It's specifically based on a U.K. Betamax cover, the picture chainsaw came from a Japanese poster. I previously did a retro Halloween 2 cover so I'm continuing the trend. The older style covers for VHS & LaserDisc were the most creative when it came to appearance.

Well I was a UK Betamax geek so that's why I like it.
I didn't see your Halloween II.

Possibly a dumb question ... but why do so many people include all the legal text on the bottom? In particular, many people include the "Questions? contact blah blah blah" from Fox. I understand listing the actors, director, crew, etc. ... but why all that other stuff? Just because it's in the template?
