PS: this month’s clue confirming Daughters of Darkness, btw.
The difference is the earlier powerhouse Noir boxes didn’t contain any Bogart films. The earlier World Noir boxes had French films in. The Borgat noirs are generally more popular than the ones in earlier volumes so it made sense to have a separate set for them as many people would only be interested for Boggie.

The box is called World Noir not French Noir so can see why some people would be disappointed that it doesn’t follow the preceding set’s pattern. However now the pattern is broken I agree we need an all Japanese set

Yeah, all 4K UHD from Radiance right now are without Dolby vision and/or HDR.
That's really disappointing and really not worth it imo, as the resolution bump isn't the reason to own a 4K Disc for me.
They should have stayed with Blu-Rays at this point.
The upgrade price isn't worth it.

I'm glad I have yet to buy one of their 4Ks. Their BDs are first-rate, FWIW.

SDR 4K is not always bad—THE BRUTALIST from Universal and Elevation justified it—but if IN MY SKIN has a 4K DV/HDR master, why is Radiance's release seemingly…SDR?

Very good good news about The Betrayal. Hoping the Japanese crime set is close to coming out as well. Kinda wish Paris Pick Up got US solo releases as that hasen't been released here yet.

Personally hoping the upcoming crime set has one or two Yakuza films. They are easily my favorite genre out of Japan and while some good ones have come out, there are still A TON left. Especially from Sadao Nakajima.

Only the Carlos Saura for me this month and I do hope that this is the start of more films from Saura from Radiance.

Just occurred to me that this is their first 4K to have a B-locked BD so that makes sense.

I'm officially done with Yakuza Flicks, especially Kinji Fukasaku. I don't understand mostly who is who and what their goal is, besides shooting the other one that looks exactly like him. There are very few good Films in that subgenre in my opinion, one being Big Time Gambling Boss.

The World Noir to me means more non-US noir. But to some extent I agree, I'd be tempted to put this on my France shelf, but instead I will continue the series in my international shelf, that also has series like Forgotten Gialli.

Yeah, I would prefer more variety of countries in a World Noir set. Perhaps it would have been better if they started a new sub-set line like French Noir Collection Volume 1 or something? There's likely many titles for them to explore there, to make multiple volumes possible for the future.

Two of the French noir titles Radiance have released through the World Noir have been in Kino's French Noir Collection as an example:

Yeah, I'd have to disagree 101%. The genre is rich with complex themes and characters and we have only scratched the surface of what's out there. There are still a handful of Fukasaku left, but still tons of great ones from Sadao Nakajima, Eiichi Kudo, Jun'ya Sato, Yasuharu Hasebe, Kôsaku Yamashita, Takashi Miike, Norifumi Suzuki, Teruo Ishii, Takashi Ishii, Akiyoshi Kimata and so many other directors.

Crime is easily my favorite genre of film to begin with, but outside of the US, no one does crime films like Japan.

I'm the exact opposite.
I hate crime and western the most. All those Gangsta, Mafia, Yakuza, Cowboys and Native Americans stuff doesn't grip me anymore.
Battles without Honour or Humanity was a real chore to get through and I wasn't wiser in the end, as I really didn't understand anything. That's supposed to be the magnum opus in that subgenre, right?
