This is what happens when you get to a point where the wealthy alumni pay the coaches out of their pocket. Now coaches are as responsible to donors as they are the President and AD.

Well they'll probably get their wish. Oregon's next head coach will likely be friendlier with the press and donors, but he won't win as many games. Hope it's worth it.

All too often Heisman winners go out and play like crap in the bowl game. Johnny Manziel isn't one of them. The guy has 211 yards passing and 169 yards rushing for 2 TD's. Too bad A&M didn't make a BCS game. I really think they're as good as anyone in the country right now.

You think Oregon would have rather had Manziel then Mariota?

If he goes to a team like Cleveland in the NFL I'll give him 3 years tops before he's back to college coaching. Good luck getting that nonstop offense with oversized play calling cards to work in the NFL. Ask Steve Spurrier how well that worked.

I'd be pretty surprised if he's successful in Cle, it'll take him a while just to get the right personnel for that offense

Thats the biggest problem I see for him. The best fit would be if the Panthers fired there coach. I could see him running his style with Cam and the RB's they have. If thats not the job, then I would stay right were I am if I were him.

And a smaller market team like Carolina better fits his personality. Kelly wouldn't have a chance in a media market like NY of Philly. His press conferences after a tough loss in the NFL would likely set off epic meltdowns.

Johnny Manziel might be the first since Archie Griffin to win two Heisman Trophies. If you look at it he has three more years to win another one. I don't see him leaving early.

+1. He looks so uncomfortable talking to the media. They would eat him alive in Philly.

Yeah, he's not going to be an NFL quarterback. He'd be dumb not to stay in school after next year.

Why not? He makes some great passes. He reminds me of RG3 or Cam.

There will be questions immediately posed regarding his long term durability. All season I've been saying that he's undersized and it will be an issue at the next level. He's listed at 6'1 200, but looks more like 5'11 190.

He's undersized and doesn't have an NFL arm. A select few NFL quarterbacks can get away with being undersized, but I don't see it with him.

i think at least for the first half. but if Alabama can run and / or stick with the run, they could and likely will wear down the ND defense. Bama is bigger and that will eventually get to ND imo.

and, because of the lay off, most bowl games take awhile for offenses to get going, so ND better damn well score quick / often (even if field goals) if they want to make a game of it. if Bama gets up 10, ND will be in trouble.

Logic tells me that exact same thought process, but there have been several times this year where I thought Notre Dame would lose. They have that way of hanging around. The longer they stay in the game, the better chance of winning for the Irish. The Tide's best plan would be to knock them out early. If Notre Dame can be within a score late in the game, look out.
