Watched Moana 3D with the family...

I'll start with the good parts, the disc itself is pure demo material.

The level of detail for CG animation on display here is really quite amazing.

The 3D was pretty good as well, with the end credits being a high point.

So PQ was great and the 3D was pretty good, what about the movie?

Sadly, it's not that good...but manages to be better than Brave at least.

I was OK with the songs during the first half, but then the focus should have shifted.

The forced Disney happy/sad situations are getting tiresome: You're Back! (groan)

Disney also switched to stacked hubs in the BD case and did not use any Disc Art here.

In the past, I always enjoyed Disney's Half & Half disc art. I guess it's gone now.

The PQ is beautiful eh? The story not as memorable as other Disney movies from the past.

I could not stand those songs.

Funny you should mention Brave. I disliked that one so much I sold it on ebay.

I got Moana at a decent price including the lenticular cover (I collect those) and I can see myself watching it again in the future so I will keep it in the collection.

Agree on the visuals.

As for the movie itself, I'm on the other side of the spectrum. I enjoyed it more than I did Tangled, Frozen, The Good Dinosaur, Zootopia.

The one song I thought was out of place, although still entertaining, was the song "Shiny" with the giant klepto crab.

I am probably one of the few animated movie fans who has not seen Frozen. I know there is singing in it. I did not care for the Good Dinosaur. It was Ok but could have been so much better.
I have Tangled but have not watched it yet (I know, more songs )

Now I did enjoy Zootopia. We have watched it several times. Maybe it's cos there are no songs

Now I have seen somewhat negative things about 3D converted Disney films so I thought I would begin my journey into watching all of them. Starting off with Toy Story I thought the depth was pretty good considering this is a movie where 3D was never even a thought while it was being made. While there is not a single pop out in the film this is now my preferable way to watch this. Video is top notch aswell as audio. The menu for me though has some very notible ghosting in it though.

I think I am in the minority but this is my favority out of the Toy Story trilogy (soon to be quadrilogy). Not only is this film great but the 3D was really good aswell. There are actually quite a few pop outs through out this film and that Buzz Lightyear intro is a feast for the eyes in 3D. Depth is even more plentiful than the first as there are bigger environments and outdoor sections. Video is again phenomenal with the audio providing the same quality. Very noticble ghosting in the menu on this one also

Now this one might be a little better than Toy Story 2 even. Almost every shot provides great depth with enormous rooms and long stretching hallways. Again in this film there are a few popouts here and there. The film itself is great but I do not know where I would rank in my top pixar list. I repeat myself again when saying that the video and audio are fantastic in this release.

Just watched Iceman 3D (2014) with English audio from UK Amazon (I paid $10.93 including shipping to the U.S.)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Iceman-3D-Blu-ray/dp/B00X80LJ40
Plays fine in Region 1.

This is the only version with both Mandarin and English 5.1 audio choices. I prefer the English so I can focus on the 3D, which is why I bought this version.

Almost all of this film took place in modern-day Hong Kong (hey, any time Hong Kong is being filmed in 3D, I'm in). There are a few flashbacks to fill in the story of Donnie Yen as a Ming Dynasty wire-fu warrior frozen 400 years prior and thawed out in modern-day Hong Kong along with two baddies chasing him.

The 3D quality was very good throughout. The picture quality was a bit wanting, like looking through a thin film of haze, so vividness and color did not quite pop as they should. The audio quality was a bit wanting as well. Near the beginning, a truck careened off an overpass and landed on a house and the crash was essentially silent when it could have been a speaker-buster. I was wondering if maybe the English audio got watered down so I replayed the scene with the Mandarin track and it was exactly the same.

The movie was fun, with a blend of action, comedy, getting puzzled by and adjusting to modern Hong Kong, and of course, Hong Kong itself. The climactic fight on one of Hong Kong's majestic bridges was very scenic and very much worth the price of admission.

The movie leaves you hanging at the end, with a sequel planned for 2018.

Recommended.

I have Toy Story in 3D enjoyed the film and have been looking to add TS 2 & 3 3D but the US prices are $$$.

So I see the UK versions are region free but when I go to Amazon UK it says "Items Cannot Be Delivered To The US"

Too bad cos the UK prices are better even with the exchange rate.

Only had a chance to watch the first few minutes but the 3d starts out cartoonishly strong. I better brush up on my Mandarin or German, though. Only German subtitles also, that's okay, I was warned. This will be fun!

Art is reversible to hide ratings print! Yay Germans!

When you see "Item cannot be delivered to the US" it only applies to the featured third party seller (see the box on the right-hand side of the screen). The featured third party seller usually has the lowest price that is fulfilled by Amazon.UK. Amazon.UK itself ships to the US. Many third party sellers ship to the US. You just have to put one in your basket and check out. The process itself will let you know.

I got lucky with finding the US release but you can always check ebay for the uk version and even amazon us sells some uk blurays.

If you care about slipcovers it will cost you more to buy Toy Story 2 & 3 separately than to buy the entire trilogy box set. If you don't care about the Lenti Slips you can find MUCH better deals on 2 & 3 on eBay. After looking for an entire year I finally got Toy Story 2 w/ slip for $40 by purchasing the slipcover and discs separately in separate transactions. For some reason prices for TS 2 with Slip are ridiculous and I've never figured out why.

Yeah, I admit I'm a "lenti" slipcover junkie

I have been looking into purchasing them separately as you suggest. Indeed the prices are sky high.

That is why I now try to purchase on release day for 3D movies.
Unfortunately we didnt have a 3D set when many of these older movies came out.

No, it does not say anything about region on the back. I also does not say it has English audio, but it has it.

I originally bought a copy off eBay for cheap ($20) on release day and when I received it I could tell the insert had been photo copied and the disc was a recordable blu-ray and looked like the image on the disc was printed in someone house. I noticed a day later that eBay had removed this user so I had ZERO recourse.. i could not even contact the Seller bc eBay had removed the Seller info and transactional detail from my account. I loathe owning things that aren't authentic so I have it as a free gift to someone who bought a steelbook from me and ordered it from Japan. It was twice the price and didn't come with a slip but I'm glad so bought it.

just ordered the brazilian release of Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia from Amazon today.

Got a email from yesasia.com today, the item that i ordered off of yesasia has been cancelled, the 3d title that I had on order originally from them was Kaibutsu-Kun The Movie (which is not on blu-ray.com database).

Hi davidbe,

Wanted to find out more about the UK edition. Thanks so much.

Saw the same copy advertised as all region from an English seller on eBay for three dollars more you paid through amazon and ordered it. Some ebay stores went out of their way to emphasize UK edition they had was also region B and would not work on north American players.

Its the kaladscope edition that Amazon UK still says region B and also PAL format.

No mention about language but sure it will include English choice as you said.
