I'm thinking Manziel will be a later young pick and probably an NFL backup. All too often people make the mistake of thinking dominating in college and winning the Heisman is a good indicator of NFL success. It's not. Just going back to 2000 these are the Heisman winning QB's.

Chris Weinke - Was in his late 20's by the time he graduated. Turned out to be a lousy NFL QB.

Eric Crouch - Played barely 3 NFL seasons as a backup.

Carson Palmer - A #1 overall pick whose had a solid career.

Jason White - Undrafted, never made an NFL roster.

Matt Leinart - #10 overall pick - total bust.

Troy Smith - 5th round pick, career NFL backup QB.

Tim Tebow - Overdrafted 1st round pick, probably won't last much longer in the NFL.

Sam Bradford - Decent NFL QB, but injury problems have held him back.

Cam Newton - Still hard to say but he appears to be at worst an average to slightly above average NFL starter. Should continue to improve.

Robert Griffin - Possible OROY, should be a consistent All-Pro.

And these were the Heisman winning QB's of the 1990's: Ty Detmer, Gino Torretta, Charlie Ward, Danny Wuerffel. Not one of them had even a slight success in the NFL. So since 1990 the only Heisman winning QB's to have any real NFL success are Griffin, Bradford, Palmer and Newton. That's 4 of 14.

I was just on rivals.com looking at the recruiting class rankings, I don't think it's irony that Notre Dame and Alabama are ranked #1 and #2 respectively.

While Notre Dame and Alabama have top notch 2013 classes I still think USC easily has the most impressive class. What USC trails in quantity they make up for in quality. USC has 6 five-star recruits while no other school has more than 2 or 3. And if you look at avg recruit rating USC is tops by a mile at 4.4 with no other program above 3.9.

Looks like Manziel's success is paying big dividends for Texas A&M with recruiting as they're ranled #8. This seems tp be hurting Texas. The Longhorns are usually top 5 in recruiting but only 17th for 2013.

Not sure what's going on with Miami ranked at 62.

Yeah SC is cleaning up right now, you would have thought this season would have hurt them a little. Leon McQuay committed to them, we really needed him to sign with us. We sit at 17th right now we are way down from the past two years. Hopefully we can steal some guys closer to signing day.

Miami is probably the lack of people paying the recruits

But in all seriousness, I'm guessing the pending sanctions are holding them back.

Oddly enough ESPN has them ranked #23. I'm not sure why Rivals and ESPN differ so much.
