Let me know which one you like better! I promise I'll try to stop making drive covers now.
Both of those are fantastic covers Rusty. I would use both of them, and they're definitely both way better than the studio cover.

One slight thing I noticed about the bottom cover:

The top left portion of Goslings head isn't blended into the beige background. I'm not sure if you used a mask of Gosling from another stock photo and made the gradient (dark top, lite bottom) backdrop yourself and added a slight noise filter, or if it's just the stock you used. Like I said, minor thing. It really doesn't look bad the way it is, I just didn't know if you wanted it to be completely seamless.

Love the great quality of resources though.

Where did you find all that artwork?? There's some amazing stuff! I recognize the Tron prints by Mondo, but I don't recognize a lot of the others.

Hairspray

Not a fan of the musical but that cover is really good. Love the title being sprayed out of the can of Hairspray.
Can you remix the cover for the original John Waters Hairspray?

I usually just type in the movie name and then add "art" or "poster" to it. Then click on search images. You'd be surprised how much cool stuff you can find. There are also a ton of minimal movie poster Tumblr sites. The one is like is minimalmovieposters.tumblr.com.

That site has some great posters. Do you have any plans to do the Batman movies (http://edgarascensao.deviantart.com/...logy-283410597) and the Pixar movies (http://colourbomb.tumblr.com/post/17...ago-and-i-went They would look fantastic.

I like those Batman images but not for a cover. I like Brandon Schaeffer's images instead.

Thanks rybev!

Remixing that cover would be insanely hard. That design in itself took over 60 hours to do.

And I actually prefer the newer one. It took what Waters did and improved on it. Plus it also comes to having the proper resources and theme. I took the theme for this cover from the closing credits for the movie. Those credits were, of course, only in the new one. So, if I did do a cover for the old one, it would have a different theme.

Ah, I didn't get to the end of the musical so never saw the credits.
Regardless - it's a great fun cover

No worries, I tend to get a lot of inspiration from how the movies are produced; especially the opening and closing credits!

No, theyre not hosted. If you PM me with your email address, I can send you a jpg in Criterion size or regular size. Or I can send you the psd file and you can edit it yourself. I will note that the back covers are not that great. Hence, why you may want to do some further editing.

I'm buying them off eBay from Casetopia. 10 cases for $20. Kinda steep but it's worth it to me.

Personally I hate stuff like those The Shining and Shawshank covers ... people on the Mubi forum just pick a popular movie and take some memorable but minor aspect and then slap it on the cover.

The worst is that, for example, that Rita Hayworth poster would be a huge spoiler for someone who doesn't know the film. The same with the twins for The Shining. The worst offender I saw was someone who made one for The Usual Suspects that was nothing but
[Show spoiler]a shattered coffee mug that reads "Kobayashi"
