Are they level matched? Doesnt sound like it... probably tough to do on the fly like that, thanks for doing that.

Otherwise from the sound of it all, the Studios are the brightest, but not shrill at all, the Sigs are the more neutral of the 3 and the Dyns are a little more warmish in the highs, but offer up more bass, the S1s seem to have good bass, but the S20s offer a touch more.

Overall, 3 very good speakers.

You are spot on, the berilyum tweeter on the Signature tames the higs down vs the 20 and that Focus speakeer is round sounding, much like my Forest.

3 great speakers, nothing absolutely wrong with them.

It sounds good.

Try playing the song at the :45 second mark when it gets quite, besides bass reproduction I find that's one of the most difficult parts of the song for the speaker to get the right amount of detail. I find anyway.

No they're not perfectly level matched but it was late and I was tired. One of these days I'll do a whole series of vids with all the bookshelves I have to show the differences from a broader range of price points. At this point in time I could also add the Atoms and the RC Mini's.

IIRC the S1's are the best measuring, most neutral speakers Paradigm makes. I also think the S1's benefitted the most from the new woofers in the v3 version. The v2's that I had the woofers just weren't up to the task of being played full range, the extra 3db of power handling of the new woofers has been a nice improvement. Being a sealed speaker they really need some juice to get the bass going, even then they don't reach down as low as the Dyn's or S20's. The bass they do produce is nice tight bass though.

The other thing is that the Dyn's only have about 30hrs on them now, I know more time won't make a night and day difference but I don't think I've heard the best they have to offer yet.

You get people sometimes claiming the Sigs aren't worth the price over the Studio's and they don't really sound that different. The most common complaint is the only difference is the tweeter, which just isn't true. The better crossover makes a big difference when it comes to sibilance, the Sigs just don't get nearly as much as the Studio's.

Anyway if you actually sit down and compare the two ( which I think you've casually done and have a good sense sense of the differences between the two ) you will easily be able to spot what your paying the extra money for. It's more than just the tweeter.

Of course they upgrade the X-over I heard the difference and the Sigs for me blew away the Studios.

I had theis discussion with Steve too X-over plays an important role in a lod speaker design.

I have been playing a little vinyl lately too. I put Jimi Hendrix Blues on vinyl on my Amazon list, it was actually cheaper then the CD, go figure, but my B-days coming up and the wife wanted to know what I wanted, so I put some things on there so she could choose, I also have a Sony BDP on there to, the 590.... wishful thinking, on my part. Never know tho.
