Most obvious hint ever! Still awesome, of course - been waiting for an upgrade on that for some time.

It probably is some random film that some have never heard of.

Honestly, I really can't wait for this release if it is true, fantastic film-noir!

I laughed at how obvious the hint is. Great news.

I forget the exact context but James Caan goes into a bar on the corner of Lincoln and Belden. In fact, in the last screenshot here you can make out Kats & Jammer, Wise Fools and Potbelly.

This is kind of a weird coincidence. Last night I ordered The Lost Weekend from Amazon.uk and watched The Apartment before going to bed and now I wake up to an Ace in the Hole clue.

Can you please start watching some Lynch films?

I love The Apartment.

Please order another Wilder film today and watch another Wilder film tonight so that we'll get an announcement for Double Indemnity (another one of my "Holy Grail" Blu-ray hopefuls).

Uhh... pretty sure it's Joe Carnahan's 2006 masterpiece Smokin' Aces. Maybe a two-pack with its underrated straight-to-video sequel?

OK, so Ace in the Hole is basically completely confirmed for Blu-ray. Cool news, indeed.

Did anyone see the top ten list by Bong Joon-ho? Great choices. Except I am not a fan of The Man Who Fell to Earth. Love that The 400 Blows is #1 (that's my favorite, too) and the inclusions of Bergman and Lola Montes.

Heh, I've had Mulholland Drive on my Amazon.uk list for quite a while and I almost grabbed the German set when it was dirt cheap (and it might still be, for all I know) but that supposed Eraserhead (it was Eraserhead, right?) clue in last year's New Year's card has pretty much hand-cuffed me as far as buying any Lynch goes.

I wish Criterion would release one of his movies on Blu-ray. Then they'd take their current grand total of South Korean cinema up to 3.

2014 is looking pretty good for Wilder.

The newsletter cartoons (I'm assuming that's where the Ace in the Hole cartoon came from) don't generally fall into the 'hey, whatever happened with...' black hole that New Year's clues sometimes find their way into so Ace in the Hole seems like a lock for next year.

Sabrina (and Funny Face, I know that's not BW but it seems wrong mentioning one without the other) are already up for preorder and Double Indemnity has gotta be coming from somebody sometime soon.

In fact, give me The Fortune Cookie and I'd be pretty satisfied, Wilder-wise.

I know a lot of people like Witness for the Prosecution (and I would almost certainly buy it) but The Fortune Cookie would pretty much be my last must have.

I purchased and watched the region free UK edition of Sabrina recently and loved it, but I am going to have to double-dip with the domestic release, because it appears that Warner is releasing the film in its originally intended ratio for the first time in any home video incarnation. It's no big deal, because I bought the UK disc for a ridiculously cheap price, and I'm sure that the Warner disc will be the same.

Unrelated...

I am currently using a free trial membership of Amazon Prime this month to get me through the Christmas season, and I just enjoyed a free stream of Edgar G. Ulmer's 1945 film noir, Detour. What a great film! I hope that it comes out on Blu-ray someday somehow.
