If they release in 2020, it will be the 40th anniversary and the 13th movie. But isn't everything tied up in legal issues right now? Last I read Victor Miller was only handed over the young Jason character, not the adult with the hockey mask. Does this put the series in the same spot as Halloween 2018; continuing after the 1st one?

This is what happens when people make WAY too much money. They run out of mansions and cars to buy to buy so they start dabbling in things they have no business being in or have zero qualifications. I think the big reason Lebron went to the Lakers was because he really wants to be in the Hollywood business. He just was in the animated movie Smallfoot, and he's had this production company set up in LA for two years which has already produced some TV shows, so I don't see anything odd about this.
