The Exorcist II transfer may be one of the weakest catalog efforts I've seen from Warner. Dirty, lacking detail...A huge disappointment. Like they just slapped whatever old master was lying around and called it a day.

That sucks. It's the only one of the sequels I would've picked up. I guess I'll just stick with my dvd copy.

Has any of you got a chance to view the prequels yet (beginning/dominion)?

Dominion looks fine. I'd expect it to given its a newish movie. But the transfers on III and especially II leave a lot to be desired. II barely has more detail than my upconverted DVD. The site review nailed it.

My boxed set should be to my doorstep here in a few hours so tonight it's going to be Exorcist III. However, I am quite looking forward to rewatching Renny Harlin's Exorcist: The Beginning. I've watched it numerous times and always enjoy it. I know it gets tons of hate but honestly IMO it's much better than Dominion which I found dull and not remotely frightening.

Last time I watched Exorcist II: The Heretic was on VHS and I recall thinking what the hell? Looking forward to a rematch on that although the expectations are quite low.

Mine is suppose to be here by 8pm. Will watch them in order. Have never seen II or III, but am glad I read the reviews so I won't be overly disappointed by how they look.

I received mine today and it wasn't how I pictured. It is packaged like the original Die Hard blu ray set , one blu ray case that holds all the movies. I don't know the actual terminology. Its not the gatefold look I know that much. Its very slim , maybe as slim as or slimmer than the 40th Anniversary blu ray edition of the Exorcist -
For some reason I thought it would look like the DVD set, each film having its own case, but it is not like that at all.

Does anyone think Exorcist III will hit the Walmart bin one of these days?

Best Buy will probably carry it next week when they do a refresh for Halloween.

I paid off the preorder. It says it should be here the 25th. You're right. I think when I initially placed the preorder in june I was thinking the original film is worth that much to me. I might as well get the mediocre/good/decent/boring sequels and prequels (depending on who you talk to on here ). I'm looking forward to having a marathon hopefully this weekend.

A total bummer; I had the highest hopes for The Heretic.

And yet, what's the obsessive to do but opt for the best--albeit sorely lacking--source available? Does Warner have the catalog release wing of the market figured out, knowing that some will inevitably reach for inferior product if it's all that's offered? ...Is the position this obsessive's in, I'm afraid.

This is actually a blind buy for me. I actually saw the first movie on TV, but I heard it's heavily edited on TV, so I probably need to watch the unedited, uncensored version to get to full, scary experience. Since this set has such a great price, I figured I'd buy it and see just how scary these movies are.

Exorcist III - Legion has one of the greatest ever horror movie scare scenes. I was kinda disappointed that the blu-ray.com review failed to mention it.

Don't know about the individuals but they're supposed to be stocking the anthology. I asked best buy and they told me no in store for the individuals, only online.

So I thought I read that Dominion was wasn't getting it's own release, but instead added as a bonus feature on The Beginning. Being that I already owned the first movie, I decided to just order II, III, and The Beginning so I could have all of the sequels and in separate cases.

Just got my shipment from Amazon, and didn't see Dominion mentioned on the back of the Beginning case.

So a few seconds of googling I come to find out that Dominion is only available as part of Complete Anthology.

Am I the only one that got this totally wrong? Now I feel a void in that I want it all (and in separate packages), and don't want the Complete Anthology since I already have the first (even though it's cheaper.)

And what are the odds that Amazon will let me return the three unopened discs to exchange towards the anthology without charging me a restocking fee because they're not defective?

If you're referring to the
[Show spoiler]hallway scene
you're grossly exaggerating. Effective yes, definitely enjoyable, but certainly no where near the top of the list of greatest scares or oh my god moments.

Currently, Dominion is exclusive to the box set and has it's own disc. WB may release it later down the road but there's no guarantee when or if they will release it separately.
