Ok, so I was saving for a crossover upgrade for my speakers and also the XDA-1, but dangit I got tired of the sound of music with my 886, so I just pulled the trigger on a USP-1.

This weekend should be VERY fun.

Nice red, I am sooooo jealous. That is an awesome pre-amp. I just read the review of it on Home Theater HiFI, and they loved it. Seems like it is an excellent piece to have for SACD's...something I am starting to get very much into. Congrats!

Congratulations on the purchase!!!

Emotiva definitely knows how to make an attractive and strong piece of equipment.

Hope we get to see pictures and get a full review once you have the chance to.

Congrats! It looks awesome, I wonder how well this would work with a TT compared to a dedicated phono pre-amp?

Sam, my UPS driver, stopped by again (package for the neighbors) and said "Are you looking for a package?" and I said.... "heck yeah!" (thinking he had it) and he said "it's not on my truck.... I've been looking for it too.....

He made a call.... and it's "missing"

He said I'm on the delivery list.... he just can't find the package, but says he'll probably be back later with it......

From what I read it appears to include a phono stage that has both MC and MM settings. However, what this means I don't know?

Just TT mumbo jumbo. It's the two different cartridge options for a TT, Moving Magnet cartridge and Moving Coil.

I don't know if this is the reasoning behind it, but I know that Mac has been very difficult for Emotiva to deal with for several reasons. There has been some licensing conflicts. Like I said though, not sure if that has anything to do with the firmware and loader.

Thanks, Fors. I initially passed on my preorder after hearing the HT Bypass only supported 2.1 and not full range which is how I run my speakers for HT. But it just occurred to me there's a way around that so I'm back on the USP bandwagon . I was holding out on getting one until after the XDA-1, but I just couldn't listen to the 886 anymore with 2-channel. It's also too bad my Oppo BDP-80 only supports DSD over HDMI. The analog outs otherwise downscale DSD to 88.2 kHz PCM. But my NAD CD player will do the USP some justice. It sounds wonderful with the UMC over analog.

Thanks 28blus. I'll try and have pics this weekend. Some night shots, too.

Thanks Morrissey... and looks like Fors answered your questions on the moving coil/magnet.

Thanks azereus. It's purely a 2 channel analog preamp for music, no internal processing whatsoever.

Hope you get it soon. I understand this kid of thing happens, but you'd think of all packages to misplace it would be something small and not the 70 pounder!

Thanks B.Hulk. I just got the tracking#. Can't wait till the weekend ! Wish I were going to Emofest. That's strike 2 for me now. Hopefully next year... but I'll be thinking of everyone while I'm listening to the USP-1.

Interesting. So is that something you'd use with a TT, or would it also benefit pairing with a cd player?

TT and any digital device with a good DAC/analog pre-out section (CD, SACD players, etc.).
