JUPITER ASCENDING 3/5
PQ: 5/5 AQ: 5/5 3D: 4.5/5 ATMOS: 5/5 It is one messy film that is also filled with action movie cliches one after another. Yet, i still found myself enjoying this hot mess of a film. Kunis is a reincarnated being who pretty much created the human race which live on several planets throughout the universe. Turns out the Wackowski's have something against the human race. We were batteries for The Matrix and a soylent green bathing juice here. Its pretty much a reference disc fir the picture and sound. Great consistant overhead speaker action, which really shined in the Chicago escape and grand finale. I found the 3D pretty good, nothing really poking out at you but always showing a great use for beyond the screen spacial depth. So I know it is confusing, messy and cliched action movie, but its a guilty pleasure i'm willing to admit too. |

Keep forgetting to post my reviews for these 3D films.
Guess I'll do it now ![]() Watched: Finding Nemo ![]() This was a pretty good surprise after some of the comments I have read on here in the past. Many people have explained how disappointing this release was compared to the Sammy movies. I get that there are many opportunities in the film where they could have Marlin or Dory come out of the screen but I feel the 3D is already great as it is (plus I feel the fish coming out of the screen would probably produce a lot of ghosting on my TV). The depth in this is very plentiful and is ever so noticable throughout the movie. You will oftenly see specks of dust and bubble of in the distance and in front of characters. It is stuff like this that makes me appreciate the effort that went into the conversion. Also ghosting is not an issue in this title as per normal in a Disney title. Cars ![]() Talk about disappointing the depth was so inconsistent. Off the bat ghosting in this film can be very noticeable in certain scenes. The depth can range from medium to pretty much nothing at all. This was a very disappointing experience especially since this is one of my least favorite Pixar films. I was really hoping the 3D would improve this movie but it didn't. Nuff said. Mad Max Fury Road ![]() Now this was MIIIIIIIIIIIIILES better than Cars movie wise and 3D wise. Talk about a memorable and quotable movie. You would think with a movie like this the action would get dull and repetitive the more times you watch it but I feel this movie just gets better and better. Talk about depth for a movie that takes place in sandy landscapes the 3D is pretty great. Lots of great eye popping action and set pieces. Honestly this movie deserved the best picture award way more than Spotlight. I can barely even remember what happened in Spotlight and it won BEST PICTURE. It just boggles my mind. Lego Batman ![]() Not much to say on this one. The 3D is about the same as The LEGO Movie. The depth more or less adds a realistic sense to the movie. Makes it feel that much more real as if the toys are actually there and not CGd. Also found this movie to be very enjoyable. Not quite as good as The LEGO Movie but definitley very funny and a great addition to the inevitable Lego franchise. and Finally Inside Out ![]() I have debated with myself on this one but I think this might be my favorite Pixar film. While I love every single Pixar film (with the exception of the Cars franchise) no other film has been able to make me feel the amount of emotions I felt during this. Riley is by far one of the most relatable characters in all of Pixar history. Just beyond Andy from Toy Story they are able to put us right in the shoes of Riley and feel exactly how she feels. This is a movie that absolutely everyone needs to see. There is so much truth and heart in film I just love it. As far as 3D goes its pretty decent. I would say its between the first Toy Story and and Finding Dory in the 3D category. |

That's interesting...
While watching Lego Movie 3D, I thought the 3D was excellent. It was like they put the 'camera' inside each scene to maximize the 3D feel. With Lego Batman 3D the 'camera' felt further out (as in designed for 2D first). For me, Lego Movie 3D was a near-perfect 3D experience and a better movie too. |

This was a lot of fun to watch and the 3D really elevated the movie from a lame plot and script. The action was pretty good thruout with a few popouts. Depth was excellent thruout the movie and minimal ghosting. I rated the movie an 8.

It's your TV that has the ghosting, not the movie on the disc. |

Watched Wreck it Ralph. Enjoyed the 3D a lot. Great creative use and nice depth. The 3D gets 8.5 out of 10. Glad I bought it.

Well I'm trying to get the logic of if a movie has ghosting it's the TV that is bad and not the making of the movie itself. Are all 3D movies equal when it comes to viewing? In my opinion, no they are not. If one's TV is bad then wouldn't all 3D movies play badly on that TV? In my opinion, yes they would. So having watched over 25 movies on my TV I have seen great 3D watching movies like "The Walk", Avatar, G.I. Joe, Alice In Wonderland, OZ, San Andreas, and The Martian and all have been excellent 3D watches on my TV.

I may do my first 3d Blu-ray splurge in a good while today. I really want to get Doctor Strange 3d but it's not orderable anywhere I know of (the fact that Amazon and Disney are not ending their petty spat over Disney releases is driving me nuts too) along with some other 3d movies I wanted. I feel like I should just buy these movies opening week from now on because I'm tired of getting screwed over waiting for double dips or price drops >
