I just received my free copy of A Bug's Life Bluray/DVD from Disney Movie Rewards. However, they sent me a DVD case with DVD/Bluray. Does anybody here has a Bluray copy or custom copy of the cover of "A Bug's Life" I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Incorporated some of Nissen's suggested changes to my "Raiders of the Lost Ark" custom cover:

I think it's great and I'm excited to be able to use it. For me this cover is the definitive Raiders poster. I am very glad you used it.

Thanks and I agree - this Amsel artwork IS the "Raiders" poster. I wouldn't dream of using another one.

I'm not happy with the TT on the spine and it got me thinking. The mix-match of fonts works for a poster or front cover but it seems a little haphazrd on a spine.

To my recollection the only movie that actually uses that iconic font is Temple of Doom. Both "Raiders" and "Last Crusade" start with a more elegant font.

Is there an alternate font that people think would work for the spine, or stick with the SF Fedora font?

Today's wednesday!

Jim wanted to share this with all of you, so you are free to PM me for download.
This is what I refer to as a "simple custom" commission from my middle price bracket.

Asked a few days ago where I could find scans for the two sided art for Chungking Express and Bottle Rocket. I prefer a printable template of the original two-sided cover art. I have a handful of custom covers but never tried printing a two sided one. How does that even work?

Agreed. A year ago I stumbled over a framed re-print at a crazily reasonable price and jumped at it (my only professionally framed film poster). It hangs in my home office now. That poster is hands down my favorite Indiana Jones poster.

Agreed. It has tremendous nostalgia value for me which is why I used it.

In the meantime I wanted to see how another poster would look in my template. Note, this is a WIP. The spine and back are from "Raiders":

Thanks Imrahil. I'll be using Friz Quadrata which is (by the looks of it) the font used in "Raiders of the Lost Ark"...how do you ID fonts so fast?

And once you start noticing fonts, you can't un-notice them. Gill Sans is everywhere.
The only thing I hate is that there are so many that are practically identical; I must have dozens of fonts on my computer that are exactly the same as Times New Roman.

Not having luck with the search on here, though I suppose I'm not doing it right. But thought I'd ask, would anyone be able to design a cover for 'Clash of the Titans', the 2010 version?

I've got finals coming up (one final paper, final presentation and 3 final exams) and I would enjoy to have a cover made by another artist. I'd be proud to be like, 'I got that on the Blu forum.' Just picked up the Blu for $4 at Blockbuster too, but it has that horrible 'Rental' logo on it. Thanks to anyone who can do it. I bet the design will be epic! Thanks!

Was there a cover for POTC: On Stranger Tides? I just got the movie from BB, and it did not have a cover.

Here is my "Raiders of the Lost Ark" custom cover/template:

For the spine I used the font suggested by Imrahil. It is the font used for the title in the movies "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade".

Curiously the more familiar Indiana Jones font was used for the title sequence in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" (I recall Kate Capshaw dancing in front of it obscuring part of Indy's name), but when the third movie opened five years later it had returned to the more elegant font used in "Raiders" titles:

I gave the font a white contour (outside) to most closely replicate how it appears on screen.

The font is so small (10.3 pt) because I had to ensure it would fit Indy 4's insanely long title (for which I will have to use "&").

Here's a 3-D representation of the cover:

Comments/Suggestions are (as always) welcome.

I've never commented on cover art, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt.

I love this design, but I'd make a few alterations.

Front: To my taste, it's perfect and I wouldn't want a change. I could see someone arguing that it's palette is too limited, but I'd disagree.

Spine: I like the idea of using the original font from within the films. As it is, though, it's hard to read because the brown is pretty deep, necessitating the white outline on the font. I think the combination is hard to read. (Also, what is the name of that font?)

I don't know a great solution, but one avenue to explore might be to put a semi-transparent box on the spine and around the title area (if that makes sense?). In essence, create a space on the spine like the large lighter brown of the front cover's poster to allow greater contrast. You could also thin out the font outline some.

Regarding the fourth film's long title... you could just skip it altogether

Back: Font-wise, I think you are over-using of the poster font. In my opinion, the font -- much like BttF's, but to a greater extent -- doesn't look right when not receding into space. Perhaps use same font you use on the spine?

Anyhoo, keep posting the revisions; I'm enjoying watching the process.

Thanks for posting your comments and suggestions IronWaffle. I might eliminate the tagline altogether and fill the space with an additional picture and more blurb, I'm not decided yet.

Here is "Last Crusade" using the "Raiders" template. Note: These are both still WIP's, but I needed to know if what i was doing would fit the other movies.

I hope you keep the blurb itself.

Ditto.

Also, on Last Crusade I love how the title falls behind Indy and the subtitle goes in front of him. Nice touch.
