This is Tom the General Manager at Dark Force. We wish to thank everyone that watched and participated in the live feed last night. Dark Force will be upgrading the phone system to one that enables speaker conference calls so the audio quality of future live feeds will be better. As of today last night's show had 2.2k views and 1.5k comments.

Having a number of movies out on home video that I produced/directed, and having been involved in many aspects of the business since the 80's, I can say nobody pays that much money unless it's a big franchise. If someone did really offer that much, and she said 'no', it might mean she wants it suppressed because a movie like that never gets anywhere close to that much money from other labels. I doubt it was offered as it would be extremely hard to break even for the bluray and if it was offered, she may not have received the offer or doesn't think it's legit. Labels get multiple movies from major studios for that kind of money.

Edit. If an offer for any particular amount of money was made, the agent would send a letter accepting or declining etc. Chances are the offer never reached the right person.

Anyone else feel like Demon Dave turned face last night? After he heard all of his mentor (Bill)'s complaints for months/years on end and then actually spoke to Joe it seemed as though he realized that Bill is just a little senile and clinging on to the video business of yesteryear. As my contemporaries would say: Bye Boomer.

I liked that Demon can give Bill a little sh$#t and he doesn't seem to mind, but I think there's a respect there for Bill. Joe and the MVD dude seemed to acknowledge that respect as well. For all his quirks, Bill's a knowledgeable and passionate person and he's got his own unique Code Red vibe going on. In an increasingly sterile corporate world, there's something admirable about that.

Regarding RAD, I read somewhere that the owners are not keen on it being released. A few have tried. I will try and find the article but it is one title that I wouldn't hold my breath for, unfortunately.

I think I remember it being owned by Talia Shire for some reason and she will never let it out. I could be wrong.

That is correct mate. I don't think it did too well at the box office either. Shame, as it is has a good following and is an easy watch.

If Talia Shire is the actual copyright holder, doesn't it stand to reason that she would've gotten rid of negatives or other source material if she truly wants to suppress the film? It's a good thing she didn't accept Dave's offer of 50 grand (if this is true) only to turn over a tape master

Talia shire is 100% the rights owner. She got it when her husband Jack Schwartzman died , that being said. She’s said and been approached numerous times to license and has no interest in it. - maybe Jason or her other kids will inherit one day and there still a physical platform to see it released on.

Original source material not even needed as a digital HD master already exists - was shown on a cable HDTV HD specialty channel a long time ago. All it would involve is dumping existing master on Blu-ray, no large expenses. Strictly licensing issue. Sad.

So she signs off on an HD master (she had to if she controls the rights) but doesn't want it released on physical media? Yeah that makes sense. Tons more people would've watched the film on some cable channel than would've purchased a copy on Blu-ray, - a fact that doesn't click if she wants to suppress the film. BTW, why would she want to suppress it? Does she appear naked in it but has found religion or some other BS?

The HD cable channel it was shown on wasn't a major network, itwas one of those 1080i HD-only demo stations that showed exclusively HD movies from when HD first came out on cable, I forget the channel name, but it has HD in it if I recall. One of the popular DVD bootlegs is sourced from the HDTV broadcast and you can periodically see the channel watermark throughout the film. I think it was only showed a few times too. So this is a very long time ago and things may have changed since then.

Rad has nothing wrong with it re nudity or PC stuff (unless you count ass sliding ), just probably holding out for $$$ like some of more difficult rights holders. Though 50,000 seems generous considering it probably wouldn't sell well enough to have a large release. Not going to do Dawn of the Dead numbers

HD master is probably dated by todays standards (probably in territory of Shouts brainscan master based on the age and DVD boot) but still way better than what we have.

RAD has definitely aired on more than one HD channel over the years. I have two different HD versions of it, an older one that has the watermark and a another newer one that has no watermarks...and also looks better.
