How are these sites so far off from each other? They have UCLA at number 5 and Florida down to 8. I think I'll go with the site that has FSU the highest

I've wondered about that for years. There are a lot of differences in different web sites' class rankings. The three I usually go by are ESPN, 247sports, and Rivals.

Lol, she didn't actually attack him. She disagreed with him on going to Bama, she looked very unhappy with his decision. Which was very childish and selfish of her to ruin her son's moment.

Florida was #1 for at least part of yesterday on ESPN.

It must be a big difference on where they have players ranked.

Running back Alex Collins has officially signed with Arkansas, with his father signing the letter of intent rather than his mother. His mother has hired a lawyer and is apparently trying to find a way to force her son to go to Miami.

I don't get why a person has to be 21 in order to sign up to play college football where they want. If you're 18 you are an adult. You can sign up to fight in the armed forces at 18 for crying out loud.

Good point! Its likely an NCAA thing, but not sure why. In the law, they are adults, but I bet someone sued to get out of a LEI and some dumb judge allowed it with the excuse that the kid wasn't a professional and thus still under the responsibility of the parents.

Stage mothers can wreck a career. Collins should talk to Josh Portis about that.

The so-called "investigation" into the Sandusky disaster started by the Paterno family is about to be released. So an investigation commissioned by Paterno's relatives clears him of any wrongdoing. Shocking!

http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/...-lions-players

Quote:
Sue Paterno, the widow of the late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, has emailed a letter to hundreds of former Penn State players, informing them that a report, commissioned by the family in response to the Freeh Report, will be released Sunday.

The Freeh Report, authored by former FBI head Louis Freeh, was highly critical of Joe Paterno and other administrators at Penn State in their handling of the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal. The NCAA later imposed unprecedented sanctions on Penn State based on the conclusions of the Freeh Report.

According to Sue Paterno's letter, the report presents "a persuasive critique of the Freeh report as a total disservice to victims of Sandusky and the cause of preventing child sex offenses."

The report also questions the interpretation of evidence by the Freeh Report, and the NCAA's actions in sanctioning Penn State. In her letter to players, Sue Paterno also defends her late husband as a "moral, disciplined" man who never twisted the truth to avoid bad publicity.

Joe Paterno died of lung cancer in January 2012. He was 85.

At 9 a.m. ET Sunday on ESPN, "Outside the Lines" will convene an exclusive panel, comprised of authors of the new report, discussing their review of the Freeh Report, and their assessment of the NCAA's actions.

Cam Cameron, who was fired by the Ravens as the offensive coordinator in December, has been named the new offensive coordinator at LSU. Cameron and LSU coach Les Miles worked together at Michigan in the 80s. Cameron's last college job was as Indiana's head coach and was fired in 2001 after going 18-37 in 5 seasons.

This cracks me up they would have been better off not saying anything. TBH I had completely forgotten about the original report until they brought it back up. They can try to clear Paternos name all they want NCAA will never reinstate those wins. Penn State will do everything it can to forget about JoPa, for god sakes Penn State would be better off at this time saying Honey Boo Boo coached those teams over Paterno.

Is USC still on probation when it comes to scholarships? They only have 12 recruits signed for the 2013 class while every other top-20 class has between 21 and 32 played signed. Going by average rating per recruit signed USC is #1 in the nation, but in most rankings they're around #10-15 due to so few recruits.

In case anyone was wondering why the SEC dominates college football here's a good reason why.

Out of the Top-100 ranked players in the 2013 recruiting class 59 of them played high school football in the 11 "old south" states. That means just 41 players out of the top-100 played in any of the 39 remaining non-southern states. Even the relatively small states like AL, MS and LA produce a ridicuous number of 5-star football players.

Yes, USC still has scholarship restrictions. They are only allowed to have 75 total scholarship players (the normal limit is 85) and lost 30 total scholarships over three years, so instead of having 25 scholarships a year they needed to average (at most) 15 scholarships. Last year they only signed 13 players (counting former Penn State RB Silas Redd), so they could have signed up to 17 people this year. If they don't sign anyone else they will be able to sign up to 20 players next year, which is the final year of the scholarship restrictions.

I'm surprised Bielema did as well as he did with his first recruiting class at Arkansas. Having the #22 class (according to CBS) is shocking to me given his very bland personality. (Although I'm sure Randy Shannon really helped with the recruiting) He was a terrible head coach at Miami, but he's a hell of an impressive recruiter.

Checking out Rivals.com it looks like four of Arkansas's last recruits to sign are from south Florida, two of whom are 4-star players. Definately looks like Shannon's work. The Miami area is a goldmine for HS football talent.

If Shannon was half as good of a head coach as he is a recruiter, he'd still be at Miami. He was extremely disappointing, especially his halftime adjustments. They were nonexistent.
