I would. This is Star Wars. Anything goes. They're as much events as they are movies. I can't wait for the first official trailer.

Thinking about it...the fact that we're days away from a teaser trailer hitting the theaters, no matter how limited it is, just hits home harder that we're in for yet another trilogy of Star Wars films that we didn't think was coming.

Is anyone else just not excited at all about this new trilogy? I just feel like there is nothing else really worthwhile that can be done with this series as far as movies are concerned.

I've not seen Interstellar yet so this is a perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

I'm excited, because like Mark Hamill said himself, Luke's adventures after defeating Palpatine had an endless potential. The original EU book series (now non-canon thanks to Disney) had several new conflicts pop up, including Luke's nephew becoming a Sith Lord.

At last glance, and I'm not sure if it is broadened (and it was seriously a glance) it appeared the only theater in my area that will be previewing this one of the crappy, trashy Alamo Draft Houses in Austin. Thanks but no thanks. I have not intention of gracing them with my presence just to catch a glimpse of a teaser.

I'll wait until the inevitable iPhone-camera-caught version and possibly the real version hit the web. It is just a teaser and nothing compares to the real thing.

EU was never canon to begin with.

I'm a little confused about the trailer release; is it something I'll have to buy tickets for specifically or will it play before a certain movie?

Doesn't change the fact that it's a US funded endeavor. Besides, not everyone here will be able to see it right away either.

I am 235 miles from the only theater in Pennsylvania showing this. I am contemplating driving there even though they will be showing it in all theaters a week or 2 later.

Actually, there were different levels of canon before Disney took over. The EU books were one step below the films, because Lucas authorized all of them to be published.

Technically it was, but as Moviefan2k4 pointed out, there were actually levels of "canon" and Lucas had to approve plot-points in the storyline.

HOWEVER, Lucas also didn't really pay attention to those stories and freely contradicted them in his prequel films. Boba Fett became a continuity nightmare, and there was a lot of laughably convoluted revisions to his back-story to sort of explain the contradictions. Same thing with Dark Horse's Star Wars Republic comic book series set during the Clone Wars, in which the described timeline was completely obliterated by the Clone Wars animated series.

Quite frankly, I'm kind of glad the EU was flushed. It was a mixed bag and had some awful stuff in it, plus if they didn't, Chewbacca wouldn't even be able to be in Episode VII because he'd be dead!

I'll wait for it online...I'm not going to see a movie (especially on Black Friday, since the theaters will probably be very crowded) just to see an 88-second trailer...

Agreed. I'm one of the few out there that liked the Prequels since, as a kid growing up on the originals, I was always interested in how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader.

However, I think the way the 6 movies stand right now is perfect, i.e. ROTJ is a great ending to the Saga. I don't see any reason to have more movies after ROTJ, but that's me...

I wouldn't be suprised if Youtube stops the uploading of videos for a few hours just so they won't have to deal with Lucasfilm lawyers every five minutes. If someone does manage to record it.

The most we can hope for right way are stills and maybe some gifs.

Somebody will probably stream it live from one of the theaters.

People aren't going to give up their phones and Lucasfilm isn't going to turn off the internet. This cat will not be in the bag for long.

As I left the theater after The Phantom Menace, all interest I had ever had in the SW universe and story was gone for good. And I saw the original 12 times in the theater. Now? Couldn't be less interested.
