Glad you liked it! My main problem was the shaky cam. Other than that, I thought it was solid.

I've read about the annoying shaky cam, but I have to say it wasn't as bad as most people made it out to be. Not a fan of it, but it could have been much worse imo.

It found a distributor a year ago I believe after being prised from the hands of investors effectively holding it ransom.

These are the Van Damme movies I own on blu-ray, off the top of my head:

Bloodsport/Time Cop (Bloodsport really needs a proper solo release. By far my favorite Van Damme movie. A 4K remaster and some nice extras would make my life complete.)

Universal Soldier (I read that there's a recently remastered version out there?)

Hard Target (Finally came out on blu-ray in Australia)

Death Warrant/Double Impact (Double Impact is okay, but I bought this for Death Warrant which is one of my favorite Van Damme movies)

Nowhere To Run (Only saw this for the first time recently and really enjoyed it. It seems to be one of his less popular movies which is unfortunate. One of his first forays into serious roles and he does very well here.)

JCVD (Still haven't gotten around to watching the blu-ray yet, but I've read here the transfer isn't great. Pity because it was a surprisingly good movie. Pity Van Damme went right back to doing the kind of trash for a paycheck he addressed in that epic speech.)

Sudden Death (Boy did this not hold up well when I re-watched it recently. One of the better examples of a 'Die Hard on a______' movies. Powers Boothe is an awesome actor, but he was comically over-the-top here, like a really poor man's Hans Gruber. I used to remember really enjoying this movie :/)

I think that's it. The only one's I don't own that I hope to get some day are:

The Kickboxer (No AUS release and it's too expensive on Ebay. Not a favorite either so I'm happy to wait to pick it up at a reasonable price)

Universal Soldier: The Return (A pretty awful movie, but I loved it when I was younger. Michael Jai White and Goldberg are great in it and the comedy scenes are hysterical! It's way too expensive though because it's out of print so I'll have to wait for a re-release. Not in any huge rush though.)

That's about it. I wasn't much of a fan of Cyborg but would pick it up cheap if I came across it. I honestly haven't seen quite a few of his movies and from the reviews and general fan consensus I'm not missing much. I did hear Wake of Death was good though so I'm gonna give that a watch soon.

Any suggestions for some of Van Damme's better movies I haven't already mentioned?

You can get Kickboxer from the UK cheap, and the transfer is the less processed version.
Universal Soldier: The Return can be had cheap in the Van Damme 5 Movie Collection from Mill Creek but it is region A locked

I've finally completed my nostalgic essential JCVD collection: Kickboxer,Cyborg, Double Impact, Death Warrant, Bloodsport+Timecop,Universal Soldier.
Since my memory holds these movies as vhs home movies...i'm happy with all the transfers, even Bloodsport looks filmic and good enough for my purely nostalgic need. I don't think i'll ever doubledip on these...maybe when a big 4k JCVD set will be available for 15$, 10 years from now.
I'm looking forward to rewatch Death Warrant, Timecop and Double Impact. But some of the others didn't age that well.

Bloodsport was The cult movie of the 7-15 year olds when i was a kid,the most circulated vhs tape in my country at that time. Back in 90-91 it was the mandatory to have watched this movie if you didn't want the pity and the marginalization from the other boys whenever we had movie talks on the playground. Wearing the Rambo and Bruce Lee pin badges wasn't enough.
But i don't think it holds that well now...its just an enjoyable ,deliciously bad movie.

Cyborg was the most epic, powerful, impressive postapocaliptic experience i had until then. But I think the high definition quality is very detrimental to this movie . It really looks ,in most areas, like a zero budget B movie now. It's one of those very few films i wish I could put a fuzzy , worn-out VHS filter on in order to recreate that first viewing experience.
Anyway, overall very proud and fond of my little JCVD collection. I do think that my Stallone collection has better replayability though.

If you look back through the last few pages of this thread you'll see lots of praise for The Bouncer/Lukas. I need to order a copy of the blu so I can finally see it.

Day of Reckoning is shockingly good. Definitely the best film I've seen JCVD in (although, given that it's a small part, I wouldn't necessarily brand it my favourite JCVD film, if that makes any sense).

I just went on a JCVD tear by picking up: Kickboxer, Bloodsport/Timecop, Nowhere to Run/The Order, Cyborg/Death Warrant/Double Impact Triple feature.

I already had that 5 film collection (Hard Target, Lionheart, Sudden Death, Street Fighter, The Quest), Expendables 2 and the Scream release of Cyborg.

Hyams really knows how to place Van Damme is action scenes. I love that scene in Regeneration where he's skulking around and knifing those guys. That's how I like to see Van Damme. He's game if you know what you're doing, and he has such a graceful physical presence; I wish other directors utilized that aspect of him more. He's totally believable as a programmed killing machine in Regeneration.
