So it looks like the error only effects the theatrical cut and not the directors cut.

Directors cut apparently better and preferred transfer

Sounds like they might discontinue release, probably with picking up as better than DVD.

Props to Dark Force for being FIRST in offering a FULL refund to customers who purchased the Carrier! Remember the extended cut is fine - zero issues of audio synch and looks great. Well played David - well played.

Thanks!
The 88 Films release looks to use the same transfer (at least judging by the screenshots here) source from Multicom. It is definitely "B" locked however.

Someone posted that the Dark Force release was encoded at 24 fps instead of the standard 23.976 fps on the 88 Films release...and there were some "motion issues" at times. I can't confirm that is accurate though, as I only have the 88 Films release.

I made an order just now since I am more interested in the extended version. I am sure Bill will start playing his games soon and make it hard to buy...at least for a while.

The truth is, most people would have still ordered it at the same price even if the extended cut was the only cut offered in the first place.

So basically just pretend theatrical cut doesn't exist on this release and ask yourself if you still want it. For me the answer is yes.

Dark Force does use controversial PR tactics to generates business (not a bad thing) but their customer service is solid. I got prompt personalized and friendly responses to my questions via email today.

And Dark Force has Amazon prime shipping speed which I'm sure Bill appreciates.

I checked out the motion looked smooth to me and couldn't find any issue, if some one has a time index I can check it out again. Might depend on your blu ray player and display.

Most won't care but the few that do (including myself), the 88 Films release includes English subtitles.

Just caught this in the news section:

Quote:
Mirror Mirror (1990) Blu-Ray

Recently launched U.S. label Dark Force Entertainment has confirmed that it is preparing a Blu-ray release of Marina Sargenti's film Mirror Mirror (1990), starring Karen Black, Yvonne De Carlo, William Sanderson, Charlie Spradling, Kristin Dattilo, and Tom Bresnahan. The release is expected to arrive on the market later this year.

Synopsis: A teenage girl begins receiving black magic power through an antique mirror that drips blood, not realizing the mirror is controlled by demonic forces. Cinematography by Robert Brinkmann (The Cable Guy).

Can anyone sell me on Mirror Mirror? I am always interested in supporting older horror movies being released. Though it's not my favorite time period for horror films, the early 90s are criminally underrated on blu ray.

Is it just me, or do you guys give Dark Forces a rough time around here? I mean, of course it was a bummer House That Vanished turned out to be heavily cut, and I don't blame anyone for complaining about all that. But it feels like people are watching his Facebook like hawks, ready to jump on him just for wearing his hat backwards now...

I recently caught Offerings. It was my first time viewing the film. Offerings is a derivative work of Halloween (1978). The overall story, demeanor of the slasher, and even the music are similar to Halloween. It also falls into some low budget horror tropes (overweight sheriff that doesn't take much concern with all of the killings, teens alone in a house while the parents are away). The movie feels a little disjointed. From reading a bit about the production, it sounds like it was slowly filmed over time. The characters' clothing certainly looks more like early 80s than late 80s.

Offerings does provide some enjoyable moments. There are some moments of tension, and the duller beginning/middle builds up into a decent little climax. The lower budget nature did add some uneasiness/creepiness to the film compared to a more polished product. It wasn't the greatest slasher, but it had some solid moments. If you are into slashers, the Dark Force release is the way to go. I picked up a copy during the Deep Discount 15% sale for $12-13. It sports a decent looking film transfer with some grain (I don't really have an eye for this thing unless it's super egregious). In the end, I am glad I have the disc, and will definitely keep it for repeat viewings down the road.

"BEHIND THE SCENES AT DARK FORCE ENTERTAINMENT:

We will be returning next week to FOTOKEM to do the initial HD transfer on our latest great acquisition MIRROR MIRROR. We already showed you what the telecine bay looks like. Here is an exclusive pic of the master control room that connects to all the transfer bays. This very room houses state of the art equipment currently removing a large green scratch out of GOD'S BLOODY ACRE. The road is long and hard road to the final blu-ray end product but worth every minute as it is the most superior available.
