Grazie mille, Katatonia.

The replacement discs will come via Vinegar Syndrome. My understanding is that the process is starting imminently, if it hasn't already.

jah13, any updates on the Walking the Edge replacement discs?

All things we'd consider, if feasible and opportunity is there, of course.

I just wanna say I’ve always been a fan of Jeff Bridges, but the fact that he’s battling Lymphoma and did an interview for an older film of his just shoots him up even higher in my eyes. Im sure doing a Zoom interview helped, but he could’ve easily just said no. Unlike some others, he always seems open to talk about his older stuff which is awesome.

Completely agree, he also always comes across as a really nice and chill dude. Maybe he just doesn't like the movie or talking about it, but I do find it odd he declined to be interviewed for the King Kong release though.

Maybe he really loathes the experience and would rather not being asked rather than being forced to speak about it?

Yeah, that's why I wrote that maybe he just doesn't like the movie. It's not like he's legally forced to do an interview if he doesn't want to. I just thought it was kind of odd, since most of the times when asked he has agreed to be interviewed for other films. Maybe it was logistics or timing, who knows. Anyways, didn't mean to derail in any way this thread.

Seconded. I ordered Jeremy going in blind and don't regret it one bit. I loved the movie, and after seeing how the interviews with Benson and O'Connor were done, I wish more boutique labels would take a page from FCE on how their special features are produced. The interviews really did enhance my enjoyment of the film. I'd say the Jeremy disc is in my top 10 releases of 2021 so far.

He's the real deal and the persona he displays in the interview is what we've come to expect.

RANCHO is an important film for him because it's where he met his wife, Sue.

Just prior to the COVID shutdown in early 2020, we had this scheduled with Jeff as an in-person interview. As the shutdown became more prolonged than we initially expected, we made it a Zoom interview last summer. This was prior to Jeff announcing his cancer diagnosis.

Obviously we're hoping his prognosis stays good and he beats it handily. And, hopefully, the RANCHO Blu-ray package brightens his day a bit when he gets it.

Re: KONG, there could be any number of reasons why he didn't do the interview...do we know that Shout asked and were turned down? The only other Blu-ray / DVD I know, for certain, he did interviews for was the Anchor Bay WINTER KILLS (reissued on Blu by Kino Lorber), so Jeff doesn't do these often.

In the case of RANCHO, it's the film where he met his wife and it's filmed in Montana, which he loves and where he has a home, so it's a special film for him, clearly.

He also did one for Scream Factory’s Starman.

Aha. I knew that disc had the archival commentary he did with Carpenter that was recorded years ago for a European DVD edition...didn't realize he did a new interview for Shout's disc.

Yes, that's the thing, it could well be due to a number of reasons we are not aware of and that sometimes happen (timing/ logistics, money, etc). Obviously, like you said and compared to KK, Rancho is different in the sense that it holds a special place due to a number of personal factors involved. I just thought it was kind of odd or at least it surprised me that he turned them down (SF stated that of all of the main cast declined) considering he has spoken before of the film (he even talks about it in the more or less recent GQ breakdown of his roles).
As for other interviews, while he doesn't do them frequently he is open to them. He agreed and has done interviews for Winter Kills, Starman and was really close to doing one for the documentary included in the Indicator release of Fat City (he really wanted to, but unfortunately due to scheduling issues he couldn't).
Anyways, the fact that you managed to interview him is a big get and I'm looking forward to buying your release when it comes out.

You've got absolutely loaded KING KONG and FAT CITY Blu-ray editions already, even without Bridges's direct involvement. Take his separate interviews, where he addresses these films, and you're more than set.

I'm not sure if I'll *love* Rancho Deluxe but the interviews with Bridges and McGuane and that beautiful Montana scenery restored in HD convinced me. I might have to wait for a sale but I'll definitely be picking this one up.

We covered some KONG in our Bridges interview, incidentally.

I watched 'Tempest' on the Criterion Channel last night. This widely panned Paul Mazursky film from 1982 feels very much 'out of its time' and I think has aged very well. Could make a cool FCE.

Just curious for those of us who ordered Walking the Edge from Vinegar Syndrome back in May, will the replacement discs just be automatically sent or do we have to email? Thanks in advance!
