Earthquake had multiple mixes, including a 6-channel 70MM. But subsequent movies like Midway, Rollercoaster, and Battlestar Galactica were all mono.

Watched this for the first time in theaters. I thought it was pretty good and was engaged throughout. This is the Director’s Cut version. Maybe it is that much better than the original?

I saw it last night.. first time with laser projection. Oh my goodness it was so good. so was the atmos. it will be a treat come September on disc.

Goes to show what talentless hacks are running the show over there, there's no other way to describe them. The mistakes are simply horrible and getting more and more common as the years go by, it makes me truly depressed.

The "hacks" you're referring to are old school "Trek" guys like Daren Docterman who hasn't been shy being toxic about the new TREK shows like DSC, having a meltdown when they referred to a Work Bee (which was never said in any of the films) as a "Worker Bee".

So you're point is the old school fans are sloppy, talentless and getting more so as time goes on? And that they should have gotten the current crews who work on the new shows to do the TMP DE?

A lot of the issues are very, very visible.
It's a cheap production for the fans and it's nice for that, but it's not very well made.

I won't see it in a cinema until I can get it in a HQ cinema room and none of the rooms showing it in my area are the HQ ones, which are only being used for the latest blockbuster franchise films. I'll likely see it in the off-season at Alamo Drafthouse, in their Big Show room, though I will buy the UHD-BD.
