jmbenesh, I suppose you also walk into "Best Buy" and demand they hand over several Blu-ray's because you are a poor college student and its not fair for "Best Buy" to charge money for them.

There are always ways to get Blu-rays custom covers for free if you are willing to open up Photoshop and design some covers yourself. A lot of sites also give credits if you upload high resolution artwork/images/publicity stills to their site.

A lot of these sites depend on people submitting quality custom covers. If they don't provide an incentive (ie credits) then what incentive would people have to post their customs on their site?

I download from "pay" sites all the time and have yet to be charged a dime.

Obviously I don't do that.

As for the credits on other sites, noted; thanks for helping out in some regard. I am new to the custom cover area of this site, so I wasn't aware of how credits and such on various sites work. I have never made a custom cover, I have never printed a custom cover, and I hadn't even really seen a custom cover until a few days ago on the "Haul" thread, which led to me scouring the net and asking.

The primary reason that I asked is because I looked through this thread and saw people asking other users for hi-res scans of some customs (it even happened directly above your post), and figured I could ask a question about a couple that I found online without being ganged up on by the masses. With how helpful everyone on here seemed to be, I didn't think it was going to be such a big deal to ask.

Alright, duly noted. Thank you for your response.

Sorry you felt ganged up on when you asked your question. The custom cover community has a set of standards when it comes to obtaining a copy of a custom cover.

It's also a fair assumption that a custom cover you see on this forum is available for download somewhere. For example I know with a good degree of certainty that any cover Imrahil produces will likely be available in short order on EuphoricFX (a free site).

I split my covers between EuphoricFX and Customaniacs but thats simply so I can keep my credit total up over at Customaniacs so I can upload some imagery to create more covers.

There are a lot of very helpful people in the custom cover community who are willing to help a beginner designer. When I started back in July or August of last year I received invaluable help from Imrahil and Nissen.

After a month of working on a 007 template on the EuphoricFX WIP forum (which, given the advice and guidance of more experienced designers than myself, was pointed to by the adminstrators as an example of how a WIP thread should be) I produced a cover for every 007 movie including the rogue "Never Say Never Again" and 1967 "Casino Royale" which are still among my most requested covers out there. It wouldn't have been possible without Imrahil, Nissen, the EuphoricFX users and users on this forum that offered advice, suggestions and comments.

So, I guess I am suggesting at trying your hand at putting a cover together. If you have Photoshop of course. If you don't have Photoshop find a site that offers high definition imagery and start racking up some credits.

Default Slipcovers

Question for everyone. Has anyone tried creating their own slipcovers? I don't just mean print on paper, what I mean is print on cardboard, cut it out and glue it together. I was thinking about making a few for my slipless blus once I get a better printer. If you have tried creating them and they turned out, what are the deminsions. Thanks all.

I haven't tried making a regular slipcover yet. I did make a slipbox/collection box for the BTTF films a while back just prior to them coming out:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=34662

I am tempted to make slipcovers for some movies in my collection at some point. I wouldn't do this for every movie in my collection by any means. But there are a few that I woud like to make them for. Primarily I would do this for any movies that don't have slipcovers, but are part of a series of movies and the other films from the series do have slipcovers.

For example, Batman Begins didn't come with a slipcover, but the Dark Knight did. Also, when the 2nd Harold & Kumar movie was being released on DVD and Blu-Ray after it's theatrical run, the first movie was released on Blu-Ray at the same time. The 2nd movie had a slipcover, but the first one didn't. I now also have the 3rd movie, which has a slip.

So, it would be nice to at least give related movies a consistent look. This wasn't as much of an issue with DVD cases because a DVD case without a slipcover sitting next to a DVD case with one doesn't look as jarringly different (to me anyway) as a BD case with a slipcover sitting next to A BD case without one. The rounded tops of BD cases are what makes the difference stand out.

Yup, I sold out. My first cover went live on CustoManiacs yesterday. All of you who have issues with "paying" for covers don't have to sweat. I'm still allowed to hand them out for free over here.
