Just finished ROTK yesterday and it was truly an amazing experience!
4.5/5 PQ and AQ was great but I can't rate it because I don't have a brand new soundsystem.

I forgot how Frodo
[Show spoiler]totally failed his mission lol.

It's quiet in this thread and even more so since Apollo 13 was released this week. It's getting killed on this site, people are so unhappy. I've come to think that people expect perfection from Blu-ray and to be honest there's no such thing. Maybe people just like to complain...I don't know.

Again to be honest, without Smeagol/Gollum and Samwise Gamgee, Frodo would've failed in his mission to destroy the Ring and Middle Earth would've been cast into darkness and shadow.

Of course, I agree.
Just shows how incredibly powerful the ring is...

Well as Samwise and Bombadil proved, as long as you have no desire to actually USE the ring, it has no pull over you. Heck, Faramir proved that also, even if they didn't show that properly in the movies.

Samwise was actually hesitating to give the ring back to Frodo, of course he only took because he thought
[Show spoiler]Frodo was dead

Even then, he hesitated in the way you would handing a drug addict a needle full of heroin.

He was right to hesitate, Frodo obviously over-reacted and rudely snatched it from him.

I didn't see it like that, to me it looked like Frodo looked very concerned that Samwise didn't give him the ring right away.

The music and how it all turned "dreamy" suggested that Samwise finally was put under the spell, that would also explain why Samwise choose to carry Frodo up to the entrance of the Volcano and not take the ring and do it himself, at least to me.

I think he recognized that the Ring was Frodo's burden to bear but he had make an oath to protect Frodo so he decided the best thing to do would be to take Frodo to the cracks of Mount Doom.

Well... this is an interesting discussion.

I saw it as Samwise was afraid to be tempted once again.
"Then let us be rid of it... once and for all! Come on, Mr. Frodo. I can't carry it for you... but I can carry you!".

I don't think he would've said "can't" if it was for that reason you mentioned Gandalf Stormcrow.

I don't think Sam was ever tempted by the Ring. He had no desire to take it or use it, he just wanted to do right by his friend, which included helping his friend destroy the Ring before there would be nothing left of Frodo.

It seems fitting that the two prop rings used in the films were given to Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis.

I do wonder how much they would go for, I remember hearing that a Ring sold last decade for an insane sum of money, of course that could just be my memory playing tricks on me.

I think Frodo and Sam has different thoughts in their heads.

Sam was worried about handing the ring to Frodo because he knew of its temptations. He was hesitant to passing it to Frodo the same way, as someone else had already said, somebody is hesitant passing drugs to an addict.

Frodo saw Sam so hesitant with the ring and believed that Sam began to fall under the spell. Frodo also did not want Sam to take the ring from him, because at this point in the film, Frodo is very close to giving in to the ring.

You have be very careful when buying those rings as the fake ones are susceptible to Dragon Fire. Testing them can be tricky. When you take them out of the fire, if they're fake they tend to weld themselves to your skin.

Sam had to wear the ring himself before he really, fully appreciated just how sinister it is. Lucky for him, he was "grounded" enough to see that it was making him think crazy thoughts. He determined, on his own, after wearing it for a short time, that he could not carry it much longer without it taking him.
The ring is not "powerless" over Sam, he's just humble and practical enough to know that he can't contend with it and must not touch it, and he needs to give it back to Frodo.

I would not recommend buying this set unless you are a huge fan of the trilogy.

I bought them because I'm a fanboy. I couldn't NOT have these.
