Good morning Tals! Good job on the pics. I'm sure it looked amazing on your new screen.

You've inspired me, my friend. Last night I began research on screens, projectors, size and throw, etc. I wasn't planning on doing this until end of 1st quarter next year at the earliest, but I'm really getting the itch now. Thanks a lot!!!

Good Morning pr,my Friend.
Hope all is well your way.
Thank You Sincerely for the compliment on the Screen-Shots.I still cant come close to capturing whats shown on the screen. But today I may try using a tripod, to see if that makes a difference at all.

Well, sounds like the Blame Game to me.I did the same thing and had to Blame brokenthumb who got be interested in projectors. And then Big Daddy for selling me his extra projector.

Really with the way they are going down in price each year, you will be surprised what you can get for a Really Great Price.
So have you set a budget on what you want to spend for the projector, screen, cables, and either floor stand or ceiling mount?

For @$775.00 and up, you can get a Nice,New Projector thats a 720p/1080i, a 92 to 106 inch screen, and then the mount/stand and long HDMI cable for hook-up.
And its quite possible with the Holiday sales the $775.00 price may be even a good bit lower to get all the goodies.

So by the first quarter next year you will be in Video Nirvana if you get a Projector Set-up and operational. So,I will be more then glad to take the blame for the hit to your wallet.

After you get yours, you will end up influincing someone else. Who,in time, will then Blame you, like you have me.
Its a Never Ending Cycle

In fact by @ 10 AM I should be in my room putting another Blu-Ray in the player for today's viewing.
I will try to get some better pics from todays Movie then any of the others have turned out(which shouldn't be difficult considering the poor quality I have achieved thus far).

No budget set yet. I still stand firmly behind my desire to purchase a second eD A2-300 subwoofer before I do anything else. So once I figure out the Christmas budget and place the order on the A2-300, I will turn my sights onto the projector. I'd like to get it all set up for under $2K (projector, screen, mounting hardware, power run and cables). But until I really get into the pricing and seeing what quality I get for that price, it might shift northward. I bought my house this year, so I've got $8K credit coming my way in tax time next year. I planned on putting $2K towards my car note, $2K towards the mortgage, and save / invest the remaining $4K, but that is all still very much up in the air. I'm just now starting my research and I doubt I'll make any moves before the end of the year.

Have you decided what movie you're going to watch today?

The first 2-4 should be cheap by then.

By the way, have you seen the Castle Edition from France?

I have finally decided pr,my Friend.

I have been debating what to watch sense I finished watching "Revenge Of The Fallen" Sunday.
I just decided after reading your post to watch "Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs" again.

It was one Great Movie(The Best of the Three "Ice Age" Movies to me).And also a Movie I took "Sheet-Shots" of before I installed my screen. So I will take some "Screen-Shots" today and see how they compare with the Few Sheet-Shots I got from the First Viewing.

So if anyone is looking for a Great Movie to get,"Ice Age 3" fits the bill and even surpasses the Review it received from the Forum.

And Congratulations on Purchasing a House this Past Year, progers.
That $8,000 Tax Credit they give now is a Great incentive. And it sounds like you have Great Plans on how to use that Extra Money.

The second eD A2 Sub in your system will be one Amazing Addition.Between two of those subs, your Bass Level in watching Movies has to be jaw dropping.I couldn't imagine considering the reviews and great praise the reviewers and owners give Subs from Elemental Designs.

But if you are looking at a budget around $2,000.00 for a Projector System, the Choices and Performance will be Mind-Blowing.
An awesome 1080p Full HD with a Top Grade Large Screen is easily within reach for a budget even less then $2,000.00.

I ,really am Excited for you and your system on the News of a Second eD Sub and the Projector. Two of the Finest Upgrades you can make to your system.

It is,Forsberg,Buddy.
The detail looks to be very well done.I wonder how big it looks when you actually have it.In the pictures and even going from their measurements its so difficult to visualize.

But its one of the Nicer Harry Potter collectibles I have seen.
One day I will scan the web and see what collectibles from Harry Potter they have.I do think I will get 1 or 2 Harry Potter Posters for my Room.

But I need to see what sizes they have and what Variety of Different Posters are out there. It would be nice to have a Movie Poster for each of the 6 Movies released so far.But unless they are the Mini Posters,no room for that(or I would go with all 6 Star Wars Episode Posters)

But I have decided to get some Large Poster Sized Frames when I get paid and hold off on a couple of Blu-Rays so I can get something on my walls to help the look of the room.Of course painting will help immensely, along with Raceways for my Speaker Wires to the Surrounds.

But the Framed Posters in All Sizes will cover a lot of the walls until the painting occurrs. So some Poster Frames,a few additional Posters, the Right Sized Black Curtains to take the place of my sheet, and my room will look better.

Sorry for rambling,Thinking and typing what I am thinking.
Time to disappear for a couple of hours and watch my third Blu in four days.
Hopefully,my upcoming Screen-Shots will be an Upgrade from my previous attempts as well as the Sheet-Shots.

Have Fun until I return.

Thanks Todd. The eD A2-300 has been a GREAT addition to my HT (I decommissioned my old Acoustic Research sub). I watched Fight Club over the weekend. Not sure if you've seen it, but there is a scene with an aircraft collision in mid-air. The dynamics and bass in that scene are among the very best I've experienced on blu. I literally jumped out of my seat - I really was not expecting that level of intensity. I can't wait to run that scene again when I get the 2nd sub.

Good choice on Ice Age 3! I was going to suggest that to you after your rave reviews the last time you watched it. I'm curious to see the pics of that movie on the screen to compare against the shots you took of the sheet. I'm guessing it'll be no comparison.

I'm thinking I have the space for about 100" to maybe 106" screen. It'll be retractable, likely manual for now for two reasons: cost of the screen itself and don't want to pay an electrician to run power to that spot. It'll be retractable because I only expect to use it for evening / night time viewing of blus. My 52" Sony will still be in use during the day as I can't effectively black out the room. The screen will pull down from the ceiling in front of the Sony. the projector will likely be attached to the ceiling. I already have power in that spot (ceiling fan that I never use will be removed). Down the road I will add another couch and put it on a riser to make stadium style seating. Fortunately the room is about 20' long and makes all of this possible. In light of the fun I had making my sub riser, I'm really looking forward to making the riser for the seating area.

So as you can see, I've really been giving it a lot of thought. And I have you to thank for it. Thanks a lot!!! Just got to start making decisions on budget, quality, products, etc. It'll happen in time. First things first is getting through Christmas and getting my 2nd sub.

Tals,

I hope you're doing better!

Just in case you didn't notice The Universe Season 1 on Blu is currently 75% off for $19.99 on Amazon. I know you probably know more about the subject than the episodes, but I thought I'd mention it! Think of how it would look with full 16:9 images of space on your screen!

I'm hoping so. But so far not blown away. Have to get it set up and fine tuned first before I pass judgement. Maybe having a little buyers remorse, paid almost $1,200 (39,000NTD) was expecting it to be quite a bit better than old one, since now speakers are spitting out uncompressed HD audio, and old one was 85 w/ch and new is 110. I will tinker a lot more and have fun tomorrow when I don't have to worry about waking neighbors or wife.

Should I have bought a Pioneer BDP-320 with analog outs for $214.63 at Amazon? Verdict will be in a few days. I want the answer to be a solid NO!

I will say that until you run the calibration set-up, and adjust your crossovers with all speakers set to small, you can't really pass judgment. That should make a big improvement in the sound. Don't worry about buyer remorse....it will fade once you get it set up properly......

Hi Travis,

I would think that the wattage output difference between 85 and 110 watts would only be marginal to hear much increase in volume capability. In order to get a 3dB difference in volume you would need to increase the power output by 2X. So to get a 3dB increase in output volume from 85 watts you would need 170 watts; if it were a 100 watt amp you would need to increase to 200 watts to have 2X the volume.

Rich
