They're not new 4K transfers. They're not going to redo a perfectly good DI. They have re-encoded them and I guess re-did the HD conversion to support this xvycc color thing, but that's it. Any difference on those films will be marginal.

Didn't say it wouldn't be. I just wanted to make sure that nobody saw your statement and took away from it "these are literally the same things as what are currently available, sans extras." As they're not. Going only from screencaps (I know, I know), the differences in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in particular are hilariously small. But they are there, if you sit about six inches away from a 90+ inch television set (disclaimer: exaggerated for comedic effect). |

I'm sorry but anybody who already owns modern films on Blu-Ray like The Amazing Spiderman and the remake of Total Recall which are recent and were already done in 4K with special features mind you, yet decides to also buy the new "mastered in 4K" versions Sony are slapping out are droning sheep. What idiots Sony must think we are that people would upgrade (or should I say downgrade) with such films as the ones I mentioned when I'd doubt even the most frenetic nitpicker would be able to see a difference. I say "downgrade" because you lose the special features and in the case of Total Recall 2012 the extended cut.
Sony should use this to be correcting the early problematic tittles and/or release the stuff that isn't even available in 1080p yet. |

I would say that if you like these films released it would be worth picking up the newer 4K's and if you don't care about the extras(like myself baring just a handful of movies) a no brainer. In the case of Total Recall and Amazing Spider-Man I would want sense their $35 a peace. |
