I think you will enjoy it but you just KNOW someone will announce it with the better audio, subs and a commentary in a month or 2 and then we will be buying it again....

several posts about the movie CHINO--- just out of curiosity--- how have people seen this film?

I'm 54 years old and have been collecting movies since I was in my early 20's...

I have never seen that film on VHS, laserdisc, dvd, blu ray, HBO, Showtime, etc etc.

Bronson has an odd list of films that I've never seen because I've never noticed them being available---

this also applies to BORDERLINE and LOVE AND BULLETS....

RED SUN is almost as limited--- I think I caught it on HBO when I was a teen-ager!

The original aspect ratio on Chino is 1.37:1? Interesting, I wonder why.

Hey don't feel bad. I am 57 and I have never seen Chino, Cold Sweat or Someone Behind the Door and only in the last few years have I seen Rider On The Rain and that was only because I imported the DVD. And I have been a Charles Bronson fan since I saw him in The Great Escape, The Magnificent 7 and The Dirty Dozen on TV as kid in the 60's....

First saw CHINO on VHS (big Warner clamshell version) as a kid, then bought the UK DVD from Optimum Releasing.

Bought the Carlton U.K. DVD of BORDERLINE, then pcked up the Shout! Factory release.

Owned LOVE AND BULLETS on VHS for years, then bought the U.K. DVD from Spirit Entertainment.

Bought the Japanese DVD of RED SUN, then later the Japanese Blu-Ray.

This stuff is around, you just have to really want it. For me, it's all about the thrill of the hunt... not only finding the stuff, but finding the best price.

I have the French blu-ray of "Chino" with English audio and the picture is 1,33:1 fullscreen which is annoying.

If the ever release "Borderline" on Blu-ray, I think the picture quality won´t be good because it´s a low budget film with many "dark night" scenes.

There are not many scenes in broad daylight.

But "Love and Bullets" can look fine on blu-ray because of the great Switzerland scenery.

54 here as well and saw CHINO during a May 1976 release at one of the great, long gone downtown theatres here in Baton Rouge. Having tracked and collected movies and ads since being bitten by the film bug at 8, this was its first showing here. A look over release dates by county suggests it never played the US before 1975 after his stardom here solidified. Anyone else recall earlier theatrical runs?

No, but I think "Chino" is boring but has a great music main theme.

Bronson was never a big box office star in the US. Not comparable with Burt Reynolds, Eastwood, Redford. His biggest hit was "Death Wish" with a 22 million gross.

He had a good year in 1975 as an A-star but from 1976 it went down again.

Anyway, I will always be a huge Bronson fan. As a matter of fact he´s my all time favorite movie star.

Well, I watched a couple of Bronson movies yesterday via Prime Video: "Love and Bullets" and "Cold Sweat". I thought "Cold Sweat" was far superior to "Love and Bullets".

I have read that there were continued issues with the production & filming of "Love and Bullets" and I read plenty of mediocre reviews and some poor ones, so I knew not to expect much. It unfortunately was pretty forgettable and is not likely a movie that I will revisit. The foundation of the movie seems solid enough, as a cop (Bronson) goes to Switzerland to bring back a witness (Jill Ireland) whose testimony he hopes will help bring down an organized crime figure (Rod Steiger).

That sounds solid enough as a plot and with Bronson starring and with Henry Silva in the movie as a villain you would expect the movie to be pretty good. Unfortunately, I thought it was pretty boring. Silva always had a good presence on-screen as a villain but doesn't get a lot of screen time in this one and I thought both Jill Ireland and Rod Steiger gave poor performances. Jill Ireland was an attractive woman but she was just terrible, IMO and made this movie tough to watch. I have to think that Bronson lost out on some roles during his career because of his insistence on Ireland being cast in his movies.

I though "Cold Sweat" was pretty good and a bit different in style from a lot of the Bronson movies that I have seen (most of the Bronson movies that I have seen are from '73 onward and have him in some type of vigilante\policeman\hired gun type of role). The quality of the picture on Prime Video is pretty poor but I would be interested in seeing this one once it is cleaned up and released on Blu-ray. Bronson was in fantastic physical shape in "Cold Sweat".

Love and Bullets and Borderline, his two ITC movies are both not great IMO
Though would buy on Blu-ray as a die hard Bronson fan

I quite like Chino, and I have the Japanese Blu-ray which is a cheap budget release and the 1080p picture looks great.

Both "Love And Bullets" and "Borderline" are very underrated. "Love and Bullets" is in my top5 '70s Bronson films and Borderline is in my top5 '80s Bronson films...

"Love and Bullets" a top 5 Bronson movie (70´s)?

No way.

There are: Death Wish, Hard Times, Mr Majestyk, Breakheart Pass, Breakout, The Mechanic, Violent City, St.Ives, Telefon, From Noon till Three, The Stone Killer

There´re probably all better than "Love and Bullets".

I guess you are able to stomach Jill Ireland in "Love and Bullets" better than I was.

Rider On The Rain, Mr. Majestyk, The Mechanic and Chato's Land are definitely my favorites... But I would say that I like Love and Bullets, The Vallachi Papers, Death Wish, Violent City, From Noon Till Three, Hard Times equally. I love Breakout, The Stone Killer, Breakheart Pass, Someone Behind The Door and Cold Sweat a little less and Red Sun, The White Buffalo and Telefon even less... I don't really like St. Ives and Chino though... As for Twinky, I don't like it at all...

Even as kid going to see Charles Bronson movies with my friends I always dreaded when she showed up in his movies. She doesn't annoy me so much anymore but when I was younger she bugged the crap out of me. Not only is she one of the worst actresses ever but I never found her attractive....

Totally agree with those two. Death Wish II, for example, would be helluva lot better without her...performance.

Don't mind Jill Ireland in most of the Bronson movies, depends on how much screentime she gets.

Sondra Locke on the other hand is more annoying in the Eastwood movies

56 here...never seen Rider on the Rain or Cold Sweat but remember them showing on the CBS Late Movie in the 70's. Saw Red Sun on the CBS Friday Night Movie but don't remember much of it.

Saw Love and Bullets on HBO in the 80's and remember being shocked by the ending.

Bronson is guaranteed for an enjoyable 2 hours of movie watching.

Have you seen her in SUDDEN IMPACT (1983) as Jennifer Spencer...? To point just one example. I think she was great. May she rest in peace.

Try Assassination, she's in it plenty.
