I think it being only the slip adds to the novelty... When they've sold out-people will be hawking them for a million cubes of Frost Giant dust.

My BB surprisingly had a lot. They had a stand with a bunch of rows of Thor 2 and 3 sections were just for the steelbook (im guessing around 10 per stack) and the tower of new releases near checkout had probably 10.

Not nearly as limited as i thought it was going to be like Captain Phillips (which wasn't limited, can still buy online but my store only carried like 3 copies) Makes me wish BB did a Hunger Games thing where they released the first on Steel because now it looks odd having standard release of the first film next to a steel of the 2nd.

Just buy the DVD version of the movie to put in the extra spot.

I placed an in store pick up this morning for the steelbook. Still going 15 mins before they open and get in line just in case they don't fill it for some reason before opening. I hate these small limited numbers of steels. I am only able to go today so early cause I am off work with a 1 week old and just happen to have 2 weeks off from work. Otherwise I may miss out. Cant wait to watch it again. Saw it on Vudu already 2 times this past week. Too bad they didn't throw some Cap cash in for Winter Solider.

It was a 3-disc combo pack until Disney decided to cheap out and not include the DVD. My original (cancelled) Amazon order was a 3-disc set.

Only 2 discs. I don't know why they left an empty slot.

Also, it looks really nice next to my Avengers 3D steelbook.

Grabbed the Target exclusive Loki version this morning on my way to work. It's nice having a Target right near by. The slip is alright. I didn't expect the boarder to be as green as it is from the initial pics (not that it's a bad thing, just something I noticed).

The Steelbook looks nice, but since none of my other Marvel films are in Steelbooks (nor do I have any intention of going out of my way to hunt down any previously released Steelbook versions), getting a release with a slipcover goes better with what I have. The standard version looks nice, too, but it was a toss up between that and the Target version. And since Target was the most convenient place to buy it and it was the only version they had with a slip cover, it's the one that I got.

I'm curious about this as well. Does it have some kind of extra disc with exclusive additional content? If so, then I may have to reconsider my above statement. While I like consistent packaging, additional content will win out over packaging consistency.

But if it's just a DVD copy of the movie, I can live without it. It's nice when combo packs have the DVD copy with them, but it's not necessary to me.

Yeah, Amazon has really been sucking lately (and by lately I mean for at least the past year or so, maybe longer) when it comes to this sort of thing. The way they package Blu-Rays and DVDs offers almost no protection what-so-ever. If it's just a movie coming in a standard case with no slip cover, there's a decent chance that it will arrive with no problem. But if it's a slip, a digi-pack, or anything with any kind of cardboard-type packaging, it's extremely likely that it will arrive with at least some dings and dents. A minor one here or there I can ignore, but I've had some stuff arrive in pretty bad condition.

It's gotten to the point now that for new releases like this that will be carried in stores, I just opt to buy it in a physical store even if it costs a bit more. It just saves a lot of aggravation and headaches.

Unfortunately there's some things that aren't available in stores, so shopping online is the only choice. I just recently sent pack some DVD TV season sets that arrived in bad condition to Amazon, with replacements on the way. I'm not holding my breath on them being in any better condition, though.

I'm totally a steelbook kind of guy but the Target Loki cover is awesome. Picked that up on they way to work. There were 15 of them.

Just picked up the steelbook at Best Buy. Got there before they opened and there were six people out there with me, all of which were getting the steelbook. Luckily, they had about ten copies and I was able to get one.

Only problem is.... I also want the Loki slipcover. Damnit!

Scalper alert!
Arrived at Target at 8:00 this morning, there were 12 copies of Loki ones out, I was the first person there to get one. Went straight to Best Buy afterwards, got there at 9:15, waited forever till it finally opened at 10:00. It had only 8 steelbooks on display, 4 on each side, the f**king guy walked in right behind me grabbed all 4 on one side, so I instantly grabbed all 3 on my side waited to see what he was gonna do. He probably realized I was doing that on purpose, so he walked away. Then I put those back grabbed one and left.

I'm getting the steelbook at BB. I did order it on Amazon and it's due in today, but I'll gift that to a kid I know would love it.

The steelbook just looks awesome.

Forgive me if this question has already been answered but cant go through 48 pages just to find it. Is "Captain America: The Winter Soldier Exclusive Look" the same showing that they did durning the Midnight release back in theaters?

Not many at my BB. Color me mildly puzzled also, when I saw the empty disc slot.

Is the VUDU exclusive Loki feature a separate VUDU code or does everyone get it if you choose to redeem your digital copy through VUDU instead of iTunes?

Anyone know?
