That is exceedingly bizarre. Why does this happen so often? Don’t film prints of movies with mono tracks contain the mono on the damn film? Why is this so hard?!

Is there any reason not to get that set over the US version? It's almost half the price and I'm tempted.

Mad Max is the Warner release which is DD 5.1 original Australian English and DTS-HD 2.0 American English, trailer only.

The Madness of Max is a Region 2, PAL DVD.

The "High Octane" collection adds a 4K disc for Fury Road, the "Black & Chrome" version, and a new documentary about the making of The Road Warrior. Worth the extra 20 bucks, imo...

Default Madness of Max

It's a shame the Max documentary looks like ass. It's like they just took the doc from YouTube and slapped it on a DVD. Pixelization, blurriness...hell, it looks worse than DVD-quality at many points. For a documentary made in 2015, that's pretty pathetic.

It's a really good documentary that deserves a lot better presentation than what we get in this collection.

I don’t know why the original trilogy doesn’t get a real SE release.

I’d buy a box set loaded with featurettes, documentaries (old and new), deleted scenes, audio commentaries with surviving cast and crew, trailers and photo galleries.

A supplemental package that would match the STAR WARS and ALIEN sets is long overdue.

I've been debating getting this just for the Road War documentary; I can even get The Madness of Max on digital. But the missing mono track on both releases isn't a huge incentive; I'm hoping for a 40th anniversary release this year, but doubting it. I have the steelbook for FR, and paid through the nose for it, so....

I don't know but right now in Canada that is a pretty good price ... $4.25 per disc.

Both MGM and Scream Factory releases of Mad Max have the original Mono (the latter lossless).

You can't say that about most action films.

This was my third time seeing it (first in 3D in theaters, 2nd on Blu-ray at home), and for me at least, it just gets better. There's just so many times that I'm in awe of what I'm seeing. They just don't make movies like this anymore, and when you couple that with the fact that it was made by someone nearing 70 years old, it just blows my mind.
A year exactly ago to the day; it stands as true as it rang back then.

No. They have mono audio tracks but not the original Australian English theatrical mono.

Scream's isn't even mono. It's a stereo downmix of the 5.1. (Though the American dub is mono, of course.)

To my knowledge, there’s no Blu with proper mono track, unfortunately. I’m hoping for one for the 40th this year, but not holding my breath.

I hear ya. FWIW, "Road War" is included as a Special Feature for THE ROAD WARRIOR on Movies Anywhere. For anyone who owns a digital copy of TRW.

I ended up double/triple-dipping on TRW a while back during a VUDU sale.
