I never just press Eject on a movie while it's playing. I press Stop first, wait for screen to go back to Home, then press Eject

So I just got off the phone with lg and they said that the up970 does not do Dolby vision yet because they pulled back the firmware upgrade. Can anyone confirm this for me and it will be out later this year.

Yes that seems to be true. However a lot of us were quick at installing the DV firmware during that short time frame so we are getting DV as we speak

I have an April build, and it's been really quiet (silent) up until today.

I just got the Power Rangers 4k disc in today, tried it out, and now I hear the whirring/vibration noise.

Anyone else having this with Power Rangers?

thanks

Update: After unplugging the unit, and re-plugging, Power Rangers was quiet. Wow, this is (well from what everyone else has said and now this to add from me) one inconsistent player!

Think I should exchange it while I still can?
Have we found that June 2017 is any better than the rest?
Anyone have July/August yet?

I have the June build and I've heard that a few had issues. I also read somewhere in this thread that using your hand to close the tray can cause these issues. I don't know how true that is. I use the remote for the most part. I've had mine a couple of weeks so far with no problems.

I have never used my hand to close it. So you're saying a few June ones have had issues?

I'm on week 3, and it's been great until today's Power Rangers humming.

Did you do the firmware update with DV? I know they took it down. I tried to update it today, but of course none was found now.

Still undecided if I'm going to keep it or not. I don't want a player that I'm going to have to keep unplugging.

Maybe I shouldn't completely blame LG. Have ya'll heard of other players having issues with Power Rangers 4K?

Have had an April build for a little over a week and it's now starting to become noisy. Have been using the DV firmware on it from the beginning and also use the eject button on the remote or on the player itself so that can't be what's causing it.

Previously mentioned JohnWick2 was fine but now it runs just as loud on the up970 if not more than the k8500. Several dozen other discs I tested that were initially quiet have started to become noisy as well. Worst offender has to be Passengers which was relatively quiet before but really loud now to try and put into perspective even when using my avr at -12, the disc noise can still be heard.

Coupled with the disappointing DV issues I've seen on my end I'm probably going to return the player today. I may try to go for a replacement but honestly may just look at other brands.

I got the update when I bought the player. I've read about some issues with that movie. I didn't buy it because I opted to wait until the price goes down.

The only movie I have with DV is Fate of the Furious. No problems at all with that one and I haven't read about any.

I think some here are waiting before they update to DV to see if the bugs can get worked out. It might not be a bad idea.

Do you guys think the noise issue can be fixed via firmware? I mean what the heck is causing it? I am coming from a fat PS3, which wasn't exactly silent, but it never was loud enough that it bothered me. I could really only hear if if I was down right next to it. That thing was rock solid though!

Have any other brands besides Oppo added DV? I stopped researching when I bought this LG.

Only Oppo for now. No others have added DV yet.

I watched both Despcable Me 1 and 2 in DV and they were both flawless. A step above HDR and no noise coming from the player. I refuse to watch Power rangers or F8 due to personal preference so I will have to patiently wait for more DV titles of my likings to come out.
I also use this player for 1080p blurays like Black Sails. resolution is now stuck on 2160p but even then, 1080p content looks fantastic and way better than on my previous Samsung K8500

Not sure if it is my TV (LG 49UJ6300) or not.
I have updated to new update (shold be DV?) before they removed update, I can change resolutions besides 2160p.
I don't have DV Movies.
I only checked out 1080p Blu-ray movies.

Same here. Resolution locked at 2160p ever since installing DV firmware

Wait, you might understood what I said wrongly.

Mine isn't locked at 2160p.

For mine, I can change any resolutions it shows (480p to 2160p).

Mine is February build.

Understood
Resolution will be locked at 2160p only when directly connecting to a 4K TV

LG 43UJ6300 is 4K UHD TV, so I have 4K TV.

And from the menu, it shows all of resolution for me to choose.

For you, it won't work and only locked at 2160p?

Unless I unplug from my 4K tv and plug to a 1080p display like HD TV or HD projector, yes

Really?

That's weird.

Cause for LG UJ6300, which is 2017 4K UHD TV (installed latest firmware), when I connect LG UP970, I see the choice to choose from 480p, 720p, 1080p, and 2160p.

I wonder what's differences between mine and yours.
