Yeah. Would I prefer it to be the unrated version. Of coursh! But I never expected anything except the theatrical cut, and I can live with that.

To me, the unrated cut of Scream never made much of a difference. Same with ANOES.

If it exists, meaning the footage is out there and was once officially released, then I would like to have it as an option. It’s all good though. Thanks to the internet the unrated stuff of Scream and ANOES 1 and 5 are easy to find.

Whilst I think the unrated version would be great to have (seamless branching), the theatrical cut plays better, especially during the Casey Becker tree reveal. The slower track up to the tree in the "uncut" version kills the moment (pardon the pun).

Unrated cuts are pretty damn important to horror fans, especially when they've been inexplicably suppressed for a quarter-century. There's absolutely no reason NOT to include it at this point.

I mean, that's what's great about Ghostface is they're human just like everyone else. No super powers or immortality (even though Scream 3 just barely went in that direction).

But wouldn't 'properly restored' be a director's cut?

That would mean that the original Star Wars trilogy is properly restored.

I'm not sure how bringing up the Star Wars special editions has any bearing on Wes Craven's film. Craven didn't revisit his slasher and insert a lot of cgi. There's no big controversy here. There's just a director's cut and and a MPAA cut of Scream. And the director's cut has previously existed on some home media. Are we no longer allowed to ask for director's original uncut version of Scream just because George Lucas altered Star Wars?

From my experience, they've always shipped in a box with bubble wrap around the movie.

We've been dealing with the same Laserdisc era transfer for 25 years. Who gives a shit if it's unrated or not? It doesn't make much difference anyway and impacts nothing in the film. It's literally frames of gore.

What's weird is you clearly see the father start to "run" toward her, and then the uncut version is like him walking to her. Maybe if the camera was running, I'd like it more. It just seemed weird, though. The sped up version at least can simulate Usain Bolt sprinting at her, so I'll take it.

I also love the thunder sound you get right when first you see it. The repeated scream effect is weird though.

Tatum’s death is also worse in the Uncut version.

The “if it exists” was a general statement. My 3 examples have all had official releases at some point.
