thanks for everybodies' input! looks like i will be jumping on the AA bandwagon with the rest of you... now, are these prices ever discounted on deep discount via promotions or anything? in other words, has the HD-SUB12 ever been had for less than $200? i consider myself a smart shopper and would rather wait for a better price rather than buying something just to have it right NOW. so, if i can score this for less than 200, ill wait... if not, ill probably buy it pretty soon....

so... has it ever been sold for under 200?

However, I think several of us agree that it performs best as a second sub because of it's great Lower lows, with a separate sub handling more of the Higher lows, details and clarity.
A lot of people mention getting two AA subs but it sounds like maybe a sub from a different brand for upper lows would be more ideal? Any suggestions within similar price range?

I know some people are eventually going for an eD for more detail, punch, loudness, and musicality to go along with their AA.
That may also be an option looking into...

Yes, a few people have bought the HD subs on Ebay by bidding for less than the normal price. There is always a chance that they may not accept your bid.

Ultra Linear subs are from another company. I don't have personal experience with them, but the specifications look good.

The Acoustic Audio subwoofers may be back in stock in a couple of months.

Bid on these. Maybe you will get them cheaper than the normal price.

They usually take $170 for the HD 12. I actually paid $185 for it.

ive seen prices go up and down on the hdsub12. someone got em for around 140 at one point (if im not mistaken). i do believe that someone on the board here tech_freak, is willing to part with their hdsub10. i think it was bumbabeef. check him out via pm, and hopefully he is close by to avoid further shipping cost. if not, then order a brand new one with free shipping. im sure after the math you can make a good decision.

Unfortunately, UPS & Fedex charge a lot for shipping a subwoofer. Tech_freak has already bid on Ebay. If he wins, that will create a problem. It doesn't hurt to check with Bumbabeef. All the owners are listed in Post #1.

I've always known that mp3's are compressed and far from excellent quality, especially with encoding errors and such. I've never really noticed until recently after building and tweaking my current system.

Anyway,

I decided to pick up a few cd's today (yes, bought them) and try them out. I've been doing that lately with a growing collection.

I played Inner Party System's "Don't Stop" and s#%t It sounded amazing. The overall quality was great, and the bass was just "reach in and punch you" quality.

And, happily, its a quality power- not the mind-numbing nightclub bass that makes you feel like your eyeballs are going to pop like squeezed grapes.

I continue to discover how much I love my new Sub12.

MP3 and HD-DVD are the works of the devil.
