The AP is far more respected. It's composed of people who actually watch the games. The Coaches poll is voted on by head coaches who have no business voting on a poll that matters. Sometimes they don't even cast their own vote and some underling does.

One of the few things I agree with the BCS about is not having pre-season rankings. They typically are wrong and give an artificial boost to teams that may not deserve it.

Wish I could have been around to see football return to my alma-mater for the first time since it was shutdown during World War 2 in 1941, but it does start on my birthday

We were the first opponent for both Georgia Tech (11/1892, 12-6 win) and Georgia (01/1892, 0-50 loss - the first intercollegiate football game in the deep south).

I mean I'd have to call up some old friends for actual stories, I just know from people I knew on the MO track team that he was a total d* to the other athletes and it really REALLY got to his head at parties.

But the BCS results when they do come out are still impacted by pre-season numbers, from the polls which go in to the fact that the BCS computers have to "pre-seed" the believed opponent difficulty/SOS before the season starts.

They might as well just start the BCS pre-season. It comes down to the same thing anyway.

Not really. BCS doesn't release until week 8 when most teams have shifted close to where they should be.

The BCS is raw math. The results on week 8 would not change at all if they showed them prior to week 8.

I completely and wholly disagree that teams shift to where they should be in the BCS based on a handful of games against radically different opponents. I will disagree with anyone who claims Notre Dame had "shifted close to where they should be" last year.
