Anyone had any issues ordering from the store? I tried to order Death Rage and got through to the PayPal page and I selected to pay the merchant - I then got returned to the Darkforce store and it said my cart was empty. Had an email from PayPal asking me if I want to complete my payment but when I go back to the Darkforce site I’m unable to do so as my order doesn’t show anywhere. Any ideas?

Thanks for the replies. Tried it again and was logged in to PayPal before I placed the order but it’s just done the same again. Have sent a message to them to see if they can help me.

![]() ![]() Nobody in a rural Wisconsin community is happy when a meteorite crashes on the outskirts of town and unleashes a giant 25-foot spider that consumes every human in its path. A NASA scientist and a local astronomer, played respectively by Steve Brodie (Out of the Past) and Barbara Hale (Perry Mason), determine that the crash site has become a mini-black hole that has caused the massive queen spider and countless killer tarantulas to enter our world. In order to close the intergalactic gateway, however, they must risk becoming the latest flesh delicacy on the predator's plate. The 1975 sci-fi horror outing, The Giant Spider Invasion, directed on a $300,00 budget by regional filmmaker Bill Rebane (The Alpha Incident, Blood Harvest), is best known these days because of its featured episode on Mystery Science Theater 3000, where the presence of Alan Hale Jr., who played the Skipper on Gilligan's Island, as a local sheriff was a source of endless comedic jabs from the hosts. That particular bit of casting does not even scratch the surface, however, when it comes to the grindhouse appeal of this endeavor. Robert Easton, a master of dialects who appeared in Working Girl and Red Heat, stars as a hillbilly farmer on whose property the meteorite crashes, while Leslie Parrish (The Manchurian Candidate) plays his alcoholic wife and Dianne Lee Hart (The Pom Pom Girls) plays his teenage stepdaughter. Christiane Schmidtmer (The Big Doll House) appears as the farmer's mistress. The titular giant spider was created by using a Volkswagen Beetle chassis as the main body, while seven teenagers operated the legs from inside. The end result of this ingenuity is not entirely convincing, but it does make for some unforgettable scenes, namely one where the creature goes nom nom nom on spectators at a local Little League game during the final half hour. This movie was robbed at the Academy Awards ceremony that year, but it thankfully stands the test of time as a wildly entertaining feature that hits the sweet spot with regard to my love of drive-in cinema from decades past. For those brave enough to venture to this one without the MST3K commentary to guide your way, I guarantee that you will never be bored. My favorite dialogue excerpt from The Giant Spider Invasion takes place when Brodie's NASA scientist, Dr. Vance, meets Hale's female astronomer, Dr. Jenny Langer. Dr. J.R. Vance: “Hi!” Dr. Jenny Langer: “Hello.” Dr. J.R. Vance: “Hi, I'm Dr. J.R. Vance from N.A.S.A.” Dr. Jenny Langer: “Oh, I'm so glad you're here, Doctor. I'm Jenny Langer.” Dr. J.R. Vance: “Nice to meet you. I have an appointment with your father.” Dr. Jenny Langer: “Oh, no no. He passed away in 1962.” Dr. J.R. Vance: “Oh, I'm so sorry, then the appointment must be with your husband.” Dr. Jenny Langer: “I'm not married.” Dr. J.R. Vance: “I'm NOT sorry. Then it's probably with your brother.” Dr. Jenny Langer: “No, my brother's an interior decorator in Oshkosh. You see, Doctor... Vance. I'm afraid your appointment is with me. I'm DOCTOR Jenny Langer.” This Dark Force Entertainment Blu-ray looks pretty wonderful to my eyes, and it goes leaps and bounds above its VCI predecessor, which I've already sold off. Interviews with Bill ReBane and Robert Easton seal the deal, along with a Giant Spider music video. Well done, Dark Force! Last edited by The Great Owl; 02-22-2020 at 11:39 PM. |

I strongly urge Dark Force to release at least 2 new titles at a time. It saves time, money and shipping.

Those are certainly non-classics, but at a glance DF seems to specialize in '70s/'80s movies. Dark Force is the only boutique label of which I know that expressed any intention of releasing new independent horror movies.

Maybe they've changed strategies and plan on becoming the 2020's DTV graveyard equivalent of the 90's where pretty much every new movie went straight to video. We've had Vestron resurrected, VHS nostalgia reproduced (Mill Creek) and even Laserdisc-style packaging brought back (at least in the UK) so why not a label dedicated to bringing back DTV junk?
