Good for you and that's fine. However, most people don't want to shell out $30 bucks for a bargain bin quality product. I paid $30 for this and that's Arrow/Criterion pricing without the Arrow/Criterion quality. For god's sake there is a green line in the middle of the picture moving around for 2 minutes! How can you focus on a film when there is a green line moving around? Or how about not being able to see the actors because a shit storm of green lines/crap show up on the screen at multiple times in the film?

Also, within a SINGLE scene the dialogue goes from Italian to English, back to Italian, and English again. It felt like some sort of Frankenstein job here. That's fine to get it uncut for the English dub, but how about INCLUDING the ENTIRE Italian audio? Or how about some subtitles for the English dialogue and not cutting out some of the Italian subtitles?

Seriously, this release NEEDED more work before being shipped out with a hefty price tag. If you want to compete in this market and charge a lot, you need to have a quality product. If you want to release something like this, then make sure the price is $9.99 or less and not $24.95 and higher. The producers of this disc should have paid a little more to include Italian audio, English subtitles, and some more restoration. This was my first Dark Force purchase and my last. I'll wait for reviews on Red Neck, as that might have the same problems here.

Ah, someone complaining about the quality of a CR title. God bless'em! If I had a nickle for every complaint about CR quality....

Ruined will be along shortly to tout how this is the thirteenth title in Ruined Investments Quality Movie Retirement Pyramid Plan. Returns will be at 10000% once the markets wise up to a retirement plan consisting solely of Code Red blu-ray 'investments'. It will seem like you're printing your own money once the markets catch on. Get in on the ground floor!

Well, they kinda have a point. Thanks to all of the hype and hyperbole around this flick, folks were expecting this to look and be pretty amazing. I guess it isn't, which is disappointing. Sounds like they overpromised and underdelivered. At the $30 price point that is lousy.

Instead of all the BS, it feels like they should have properly managed expectations. If they would have talked about print damage, etc., - as other labels have done and continue to do - people could have made an informed decision and those that chose to buy wouldn't feel swindled.

Case in point, the upcoming Adamson set. Severin is being very upfront about the source material, its limitations, and the fact that some of these films are going to be cobbled together with less-than-perfect sources. No one is being fed a line about HD awsomeness and how cool it's all going to be. We know some of it will be good-to-great and others of it will be good-to-marginal. And the sets seem to be selling well - in spite of telling the truth and honestly managing expectations. There's probably a lesson in there somewhere.

Make sure it's one of the many scenes with print damage.

I've got a copy on the way, never did watch this before from one of the myriad bootlegs of the US release, disappointed to hear about the lack of appropriate subtitling and clarity regarding damage. I don't mind damage as much as the next guy and I'll get the best release I can for a film, but come on, just don't deceive me about what I'm buying.

I read somewhere (which means I can’t remember where and I could be making this up) that Lewis’ will has a provision for the eventual release of CLOWN.

I would totally market that as a race to the finish line between FARMER and CLOWN.

a bru-lay release of The Day the Clown Cried would undoubtedly be the most important release in Dark Force's history. Even more so than MIRRAH MIRRAH

It's true. Since Lewis's passing, he submitted The Day the Clown Cried to the Library of Congress, with the stipulation that it be released in 2024. So we'll actually see this movie in a few years.

Personally, I don't think The Day the Clown Cried going to live up to it's infamous reputation. The Farmer, however, is a solid movie.

So what’s your excuse for not fully subtitling the Italian dialogue?

For those wanting Dark Force's next release a little earlier and without a slipcover:

"MARCH IS YETI MONTH: March will be a BIG month for Dark Force with the first 5 Dark Force releases hitting stores on the 17th via MVD and every month thereafter. Plus at the Dark Force Superstore it's the world premiere of the Italian King Kong rip off YETI: GIANT OF THE 20TH CENTURY. We will have a limited number of early bird specials (without the slipcover) available at a discount price. Stay tuned for more information and details of the Dark Force Superstore reopening later today:

Will Yeti be a wider distribution with MVD vs a Dark Force exclusive?

You're welcome I can tell you also that what they said about the UCLA copy in the stream is true. It's essentially a transfer from what I assume is a 16mm copy onto VHS, onto DVD, and the quality reflects that. Audio is sometimes hard to decipher (not always, but sometimes). But none of that stopped me from enjoying the movie. If they have the negatives then the blu-ray will be a huge revelation.

My dad was up and ready to quit before we got to the campus because parking can be tricky at UCLA but after finally watching the movie, he told me going through that hassle was worth it! So I think that's a testament to how good of a movie it is, haha.

I never bought from Dark Force before, but where am I supposed to find Yeti with the slipcover if they're not selling it?

If you want the slipcover my understanding is you will have to wait. If I understood last night's FB post, copies are coming or are already in hand from the replicator but the slipcover is not completed yet and will be available at a later date.
