I loved the movie, HOWEVER I saw it when I was 13, so I'm not convinced I'll feel the same as an adult. I will say that much of it has stayed with me, especially the ending.

BTW, I saw it as the top half of a double bill with "Taxi Driver." Talk about violence!

I've been on these forums for a few years now, yet I think I missed the very beginning of the very vocal requests for the Farmer. As someone unfamiliar with the movie, can anyone distill down why this particular title is so desirable?

So it was never going to be perfect but it's miles better than all the other garbage out there and it has the nudity the US cut is missing. There are a few very minor brief scenes with some film damage mostly at reel changes. Unfortunately we didn't have access to the original camera negative, probably doesn't exist. So it's either that or nothing on this movie. And unfortunately we couldn't charge 9.99 as it still took a ton of expensive work to get it even looking that good.

It was a major studio (Columbia) theatrical release which has never had a homevideo release of any kind anywhere in the world. It follows the popular vengeance plot of popular 70's revenge films, and it's been practically impossible (well, close to impossible) to see for decades; thus, it's like a lost holy grail type film. Rights reverted to the producers, I believe, many years ago, and Scorpion bought the rights in perpetuity, and they paid a lot. Everyone wants to see the film. It stars Gary Conway of "Land of the Giants" fame.

DEATH RAGE 1080p CLIP FROM NEW MASTER: This is a clip from the new HD transfer of DEATH RAGE which was created from one of the few existing uncut Italian 35mm prints. Although we did major restoration and scene by scene color correction there is some minor film wear mostly at real changes that we were unable to fix. Most of the movie looks like the clip below. The audio was a nightmare as it fluctuated between English and Italian. We did the best we could with that and did subtitle all the parts with Italian audio. Overall the sound is fine, again as seen in below clip.
WARNING: If we continue to get complaints regarding this release it will be pulled for sale from the Dark Force Store immediately. THIS RELEASE WAS NEVER ADVERTISED AS A TRANSFER FROM THE ORIGINAL NEGATIVE. Most transfers from 35mm prints that around the age of this movie do contain some film wear and damage. It is still miles better than anything previously released on this very cool movie:

Why don't you ask Damon Packard. He subtitled it for us. I'm assuming he did the scenes that was necessary for the story. Tiny little bits where it is not needed is best to not have the subtitles messing up the nice new image we had to clean up and meticulously go scene by scene to get it looking so good.

So just to make sure I got this right, you're saying it's best to not have subtitles in some scenes because it messes/blocks the image? I guess image is more important than understanding what the hell is going on with the plot.

Isn't it your product? Why should your consumers have to ask the individual that your hired? I can understand why people would be upset when you previously stated all Italian audio had been subtitled, but now nonchalantly say that it "is not needed is best to not have the subtitles messing up the nice new image..."

Are you saying that you control what comments the mods of this thread delete?

What should have been done is to have two audio tracks. The English dub with the Italian inserts all subtitled, as well as the Italian dub with all lines subtitled. Pretty much all boutique labels are doing this now and if Dark Force wants to survive and not lose business, then they better look at what the successful labels like Arrow are doing.

Really? Like the horse race scene where they're speaking a little Italian probably about the disc jockeys. You really need the subtitles there messing up a pretty scene for that??

Yes. When you subtitle, you subtitle EVERYTHING. Not, what YOU think is important. May not be important to you, but it ruins the film experience for others. You also include the option to turn subtitles on or off, so if someone needs it they keep it, and if they don't they remove it. I would think that would a pretty basic idea for a Blu-ray release.
