![]() Or Clemson.... they're 2-3 (2-4 if you count the vacated game) against the high schoolers. Last edited by sycro; 08-14-2013 at 12:31 AM. |

and why did we not belong in one of the nc games? am i correct is assuming you're talking about the one in new orleans where we played lsu? alot of people said we didn't belong in that game. so be it. that's how the polls wound up that year. if it had happened to two other schools from the same conference then people would have said the same thing about them. it's part of the sports world. you can't please everyone so why even try? and gee, how many times have i heard how overrated Coach Saban is or how soft our schedule is? it seems like every time we schedule a "top" team and we beat them, someone has to come out and say, "well, they weren't as good as everyone thought they were...they didn't have this player...they didn't have that player...blah, blah, blah." or better yet, even when a team does have all their top players people make excuses for them. and what happened with clemson in 2008 when they played 'BAMA? you guys had your top players in the game but still couldn't come away with a win. plus, you guys were ranked #9 and we were ranked #24...barely inside the top 25. and it was only Coach Saban's second season; and his first game of that season as well. alot of people thought it would be pretty much the same score, but the other way around. after that game, there were some that questioned Frank Beamer's abilities as a head coach and whether or not he'd be there for much longer. the following year we opened with virginia tech. they were ranked #7 and we were ranked #5. now granted the outcome of this game was a bit closer than the previous year's opening game, but we still came away with a win. after that game, alot of people started to question whether or not virginia tech was a genuine threat. and even though they finished 10-3, alot of people didn't give them much credit so we got blasted by those same people saying we didn't deserve to be ranked as high as we were. last year we opened with michigan and had a decent win there. we were ranked #2 and they were ranked #8. after we had a pretty good win, alot of people said that michigan wasn't the team that everyone said they were. and what i'm trying to say with all of this is..... no matter who we play or by how much we beat them, there are always those that say the win probably doesn't mean that much because the other team wasn't that good to begin with. and it was these same people who, in the pre-season, said that team would go on to challenge for their conference and maybe make a run for the national championship. so no matter how well we do, or who we play, there are always naysayers who don't like the fact that we are winning. and that's all well and good. but if someone is gonna start talking smack about my team then yeah, you better believe i'm gonna stand up and take notice and get a little bothered by it. and by the way, talking smack is NOT what makes the season fun. i don't do it. i think it's classless and tasteless. the games are what make the season fun. tailgating is what makes the season fun. hanging out with family and friends is what makes the season fun. and the comment about poisoning trees at a rival school; don't put all of us in the same basket as that nut case. that guy is an idiot and got what he deserved and probably should have gotten a lot worse. it's people like that that make other fans look bad to other programs. so please, don't even try to make all of us out to be like him. and don't think for one second that every program doesn't have some nut-bag like that in their fan base. we all have them, and we all abhor them. but we all have to deal with them in one way or another. |

If I were in the area at the time
![]() But UGA is right after Thanksgiving, so when it's in Athens, my parents and brother come out here. When it's in Atlanta, I go home and go to the game. I could have gone to the Clemson/LSU game last year though, but I passed. |

Ohio St AD has said no to a game against Louisville. (either in 2014 or 2015, I forgot which year)
I really don't know why Ohio St doesn't play Louisville, it would be a fun matchup AND it'll help Louisville's OOC games even more since they'll be in ACC next year. |

Ohio State has no reason to play Louisville. Their schedule is already set for next year and they have a very respectable schedule with games against Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Kent State, and against Navy in the Ravens stadium. In 2015 they've only got two games scheduled but they include the return game at Virginia Tech and a game against Northern Illinois, who is usually a good mid-major team. Ohio State also has future home-and-home series scheduled with North Carolina, TCU, Texas, Boston College, and Oregon so they don't need to add another quality opponent since their strength of schedule will already be good, especially with the Big 10 going to a nine-game conference schedule in 2016.

While it's impossible to know how good those teams will be next year it's still 4 teams that made bowl games last year. It's not a murdering schedule, but it's not a cupcake schedule either. There's plenty of teams that play a much easier non-conference schedule.
Another thing to point out is teams schedule games so far out that a game that was scheduled to be a marquee contest can look like a fairly easy game by the time it's actually played. When Ohio State scheduled the game against Cal they figured it should be a tough game because Cal was a top 20 team at the time. They had no way of knowing that Cal would go downhill by the time they played. When they scheduled Virginia Tech they figured they'd be getting a top 10 opponent who was always in the mix for the ACC title. |

Here's Ohio St.s strength of schedule (out of 120 D1 schools) in previous years. 2012 - 54th 2011 - 32nd 2010 - 57th 2009 - 52nd These are laughable schedules for a BCS conference school. Last edited by ChadFL; 08-15-2013 at 05:55 PM. |
